Anderson's Farm... por Lynette Anderson

Lo sé, lo sé. Ha pasado tiempo desde que publiqué la última entrada. Me gustaría deciros que no va a volver a pasar pero, desafortunadamente, no puedo. Hay demasiadas cosas pasando en mi vida ahora mismo, así que no coso todo lo que solía hacer. De todas formas, he terminado mi colcha de Anderson's Farm y, antes de empezar con el acolchado, he pensado en compartirla con tod@s vosotr@s. Como podéis ver, he usado las mismas telas que Lynette para la suya. Adicionalmente, porque quería una colcha algo más grande, he añadido un borde extra. Este quedaba muy soso y, aunque lo quería, no terminaba de convencerme, así que le añadí unos cuadrados con bordados en cada una de las esquinas, copiando algunos de los diseños de los bloques de la colcha.

I know, I know. It's been quite a long time since I last published a post. I would like to tell you that it's not going to happen again but unfortunately I can't. There are quite a few things going on in my life right now so I don't sew as much as I used to. Anyway, I have finally finished my Anderson's Farm quilt and before I start the quilting I've thought I would share it with all of you. As you can see I've used the same fabrics Lynette used for hers. Additionally, because I wanted a bigger quilt, I have an extra border. This one was going to be quite plain and wasn't quite sure about it, so I added embroidery squares, in each of the corners, using some designs from the blocks of the quilt.

Era mi primer Mystery con Lynette y debo decir que lo he disfrutado mucho.  La espera de cada uno de los bloques fue realmente excitante, parecía que no llegaba el momento de ver el nuevo diseño. ¿Os gusta tanto como a mí? ¿Y el borde adicional con los bloques bordados? ¡Espero que os guste!

It was my first Mystery Quilt with Lynette and I must say I've really enjoyed it. Waiting for the block every month was really exciting, I couldn't wait to see the mystery design. Do you like it as much as I do? Do you like my extra border with the embroidery blocks? Hope you do!

The Old Sailboats Quilt

Hace ya mucho que os contaba acerca de la colcha "The Old Sailboats Quilt", de Jacqueline Morel, que estaba haciendo para mi hijo. No conseguí terminarla a tiempo, como había esperado, para su cumpleaños, pero logré terminarla para Navidad. Así que aquí estoy, como había prometido, 18 veleros y 16 estrellas después, compartiendo el resultado final. Lo que más me costó fue el acolchado, ya que no tengo mucha práctica y me cuesta bastante, aunque este proyecto solo va acolchado alrededor de los barcos y las estrellas.

It's been quite a long time since I told you about the"The Old Sailboats Quilt", by Jacqueline Morel, that I was doing for my son. I didn't get to finish it on time, as I had hoped, for his birthday, but got it all done for Christmas. So here I am, as I promised, 18 sailboats and 16 stars later, showing you the final result. What took me longer was the quilting, I haven't done that much hand quilting so it still takes me too much time, even if this project is only quilted around the boats and stars.

Mi hijo estaba tan encantado con su regalo de Navidad que ese mismo día disfrutó de su primera siesta arropado con su nueva colcha. Hacía frío fuera y veíamos una peli familiar, así que era el momento perfecto para estrenarla.

My son was really happy with his Christmas present and that same day he enjoyed his first nap covered with his new quilt. It was cold outside and we were watching a family movie so it was the perfect moment to use it for the first time.

Todo listo para empezar a acolchar... la colcha de barcos

Hace como tres semanas terminé la colcha de barcos de mi hijo y la preparé para acolchar. La preparé pero ahí sigue, esperando y esperando a que me decida a cogerla. Desafortunadamente no he tenido tiempo para empezar el acolchado y el cumple de mi hijo ya ha pasado... Con suerte a Navidad llego. Bueno, lo importante es que ya está lista para empezar.

About three weeks ago, I finished my son's sailboats quilt and prepared it for quilting. I prepared it but it's still waiting for me to take it and start quilting. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to start with it, so it wasn't ready for my son's birthday... Luckily, I'll finish it by Xmas. Well, what's more important is that it's ready to start and soon will be done.

¿Creéis que lo terminaré para Navidad? Espero que sí, menos mal que mi hijo tiene más paciencia que un santo... por lo menos con esto... aclaremos, supongo que es lo que tiene que no sea una PS4 o una tablet, si no lo querría ya mismo.

Do you think I will finish by Xmas? I hope so, thank God my son is patient... at least with this... let's be clear, if he was waiting for a PS4 or a tablet, he wouldn't be so patient.

Foxley Village by Natalie Bird (part 2)

¿Pensasteis que iba a descansar durante el verano? ¿Que no cosería? No sé si lo pensasteis pero mi amiga MJ y yo teníamos claro que yo no cogería una aguja hasta que llegara el otoño, pero nos equivocamos. No sé qué me ha pasado este verano, quizá hayan sido las bajas temperaturas de Irlanda las que han ayudado, pero ha sido la primera vez que me ha apetecido coser durante esta estación. Así que aquí tenéis el bloque del Foxley Village que he hecho durante mi visita a Irlanda. Hasta hice las fotos allí con las adorables ovejas de fondo de foto.

Did you think I would rest during the summer? That I wouldn't do any sewing? I don't know if you did but both my friend MJ and I surely did think I wouldn't touch a needle until the autumn came, but we were completely wrong. I don't know what has happened to me this summer, maybe the low temperatures of Ireland did help, but it has been the first time I have felt like sewing during this season. So here you have a Foxley Village block I made when visiting Ireland. I even took the pictures there with the lovely sheep on the background of the picture.

Lo sé, lo sé, todavía me quedan unos cuantos bloques para ponerme al día, por lo que este post tendrá que ser rapidito para poder continuar cosiendo. ¡Feliz costura!

Colcha Primavera

Lo sé, lo sé, ha pasado más de un mes desde mi última entrada. La semana después a la última publicación llovió, así que las fotos que hice de esta preciosa colcha quedaron horrorosas y decidí no publicarlas y esperar…. hasta ahora. Y creo que ha merecido la pena porque buscaba flores y sol y, finalmente, los he conseguido. Si es que la “Colcha Primavera” cuando mejor luce es en un soleado día de primavera.

I know, I know, it’s been over a month since my last post. The week after my last post rained so when I took the pictures of this beautiful quilt it looked awful, that’s why I decided not to publish it and wait… ‘Till now. I think it was worth waiting, I wanted flowers and sun and I’ve finally got both of them. The “Spring Quilt” looks better on a sunny spring day.

Aunque me queda mucho por aprender (tengo que mejorar mis bordados), me encanta como quedan las flores bordadas. Creo que el trío de lino, puntillas y bordados queda espectacular. ¿No os parece? Sencillo a la par que elegante. Las telas y los patrones son de La Costurera (http://www.lacosturerapatchwork.com), en Puerto Sagunto en Valencia, adquisición del primer año de Creativa en Madrid.

Even if I still have a long way to go (I need to learn to embroider better), I love how the embroidery flowers look. I think the match linen, lace and embroidery looks great. Don’t you? Simple and elegant. The fabrics and patterns are from La Costurera (http://www.lacosturerapatchwork.com), in Puerto Sagunto in Valencia, I got them in Creativa at the first edition in Madrid.

¡Bien! Por lo menos he terminado una de las cuatro colchas que estoy haciendo, ahora ya “solo” quedan tres por terminar. Espero que os haya gustado tanto como a mí, con suerte la siguiente en terminar será la de mi hijo.

Well!!! At least I have finished one of the four quilts I was doing, now I “only” have three to go. I hope you have all like it and hopefully the next one to finish will be my son’s.

Foxley Village by Natalie Bird (part 1)

Como os había prometido, aquí estoy con el tercero de los cuatro quilts en los que estoy trabajando actualmente. Supongo que la mayoría ya lo conocéis ya que se ha hecho muy famoso entre los aficionados al patch. Para los que no lo conozcáis todavía, se llama Foxley Village y ha sido creado por la diseñadora australiana Natalie Bird. Si os interesa saber más, seguid este enlace a una publicación anterior donde os contaba todo sobre el quilt, las telas y la revista (tanto en papel como en formato digital).

As I had promised you, here I am with the third of the four quilts I'm working on at the moment.  I guess most of you know it by know as it has become very famous in the patchworkers community. For those of you who haven't still heard about it, it's called Foxley Village and has been created by  the Australian designer Natalie Bird. If you want to know more about it follow this link to a previous post where I told you all about the quilt, the fabrics and the magazine (both paper and digital).

Los tres primeros bloques ya han sido publicados pero no he tenido tiempo de hacer todos. De hecho, aunque os enseño los dos primeros, la verdad es que todavía no he terminado el segundo, aún me queda el zorro. Con suerte, este fin de semana largo en Madrid tendré tiempo de terminar el zorro del segundo bloque y empezar con el tercero. ¡Por ahora me encanta! Tanto las telas como el diseño son maravillosos, ¡cómo no va a quedar bien!  Y es que me imagino a mi gato Clover, que también es gris, esperándome a la puerta de la tetería para tomarnos un English Breakfast con un trozo de tarta de zanahoria... Desde allí vemos al pájaro que vigila que los zorros no se metan en líos y terminen comiéndose nuestra merienda... Ahora, poco a poco, seguiré cosiendo esta historia que tan buena pinta tiene, una historia de un pájaro que vigila el pueblo, meriendas, ovejas y unos zorros muy pillos.

The first three blocks have been published but I haven't had time to do all of them. In fact, even if I'm showing you the first two, truth is that I haven't finished yet the second one, I still have the fox left. Hopefully, this long weekend in Madrid, I will have time to finish the fox on the second block and  will start with the third one. So far I love it! Both the fabrics and the design are gorgeous, how it isn't going to look great!  I can imagine my cat Clover, he's also grey, waiting for me at the tearoom door ready to enjoy an English Breakfast with carrot cake... From there we can see the bird that makes sure that the foxes don't get into trouble and take our tea and cake... Now, bit by bit, I will sew this story, a story of a bird who takes care of the village, tea time, sheets and a pair of very clever foxes.

Anderson's Farm by Lynette Anderson (part 1)

Tal y como os contaba en la última entrada, ando metida en cuatro quilt ahora mismo. La semana pasada os mostré el quilt de veleros de mi hijo y esta semana me gustaría enseñaros uno de mis favoritos, Anderson's Farm (La granja Anderson). Este es el quilt del Mystery Button Club (Club del Botón Misterioso) 2016 de Lynette Anderson.

As I told you in the previous post, I'm working on four quilts right now. Last week I showed you my son's sailboats quilt and today I would like to show you one of my favorites, Anderson's Farm. This is the Mystery Button Club Quilt for 2016 by Lynette Anderson.

¿No os encanta? Tan pronto como lo vi pensé que mi amiga MJ se enamoraría locamente cuando lo viera, así que se lo conté ese mismo día por la tarde y, al llegar a casa, le mandé un e-mail a Lynette para preguntarle por él. Cuando me levanté la mañana siguiente quedé gratamente sorprendida cuando vi que Lynette ya había contestado. Así que tres meses después aquí estoy con mis dos primeros bloques ya terminados y trabajando en el tercero. Por ahora me encanta como queda y disfruto mucho haciéndolo. Estoy usando apliquick para casi todas las aplicaciones y debo deciros que me está encantando, lo hace todo más fácil.

Don't you love it? As soon as I saw it I thought my friend MJ would completely fall in love with this quilt, so I told her that same day in the afternoon and as soon as I got home I e-mailed Lynette to enquire about it. When I woke up the morning after I was quite surprise to find out Lynette had already answered. So three months after that here I am with my first two blocks already finished and working on the third one. So far I love the way it looks and enjoy a lot doing it. I'm using apliquick for almost all the appliqué and I must admit I really like working with it, it makes thing simpler.

Quilt Old Sailboats de Jacqueline Morel

¡Hola a tod@s! Después de una gripe, trabajo, vacaciones de Semana Santa y más trabajo... ¡Aquí estoy de nuevo! Parece que han pasado siglos desde la última vez que compartí algo con vosotr@s. Hace unas semanas os contaba acerca de la colcha que le había empezado a hacer a mi hijo y hoy me gustaría enseñaros cómo va. Lo principal está hecho, todos los barcos de vela, así que ahora toca empezar con las estrellas. Tengo la esperanza de que esté terminado para junio, así podré empezar el acolchado antes de que llegue el calorazo de agosto.

Hi to all of you!!! After a flu, work, Easter holidays and more work... Here I am once again!! It seems like ages since last time I showed you something. A few weeks ago I told you about my son's quilt and today I would like to show you how it goes. The main part is done, all the sailboats, so now it's time to start with the stars. Hopefully, it will be finished by June so I will have time to quilt it before the heat of August arrives.

For those of you who didn't read the post where I told you about my son's quilt, let me tell you that this quilt is the extended version of one of the designs from the book "Le petit Monde" by Jacqueline Morel, "The Old Sailboats". Foxley Village Quilt by Natalie Bird

Este año viene cargado de nuevos proyectos, entre ellos el BOM Foxley Village de Natalie Bird. Supongo que ya lo conoceréis a estas alturas, pero por si alguien no lo conoce dejadme deciros que es maravilloso. El diseño es increíble y las telas Tilda, elegidas para el quilt, verdaderamente bonitas.

This year comes full of new projects, among these the Foxley Village BOM by Natalie Bird. I guess you all know it by now, but in case some of you don't let me tell you about it because it's really gorgeous. The design is amazing and the Tilda fabrics, chosen for quilt, truly beautiful.

En Madrid hay unas cuantas tiendas de patch que participan donde puedes comprar las telas pero, desgraciadamente, la revista con el patrón no es tan fácil de conseguir. Bueno, yo lo intenté y no pude hacerme con una. ¡No os asustéis! Encontré la versión digital de la revista y decidí suscribirme a través de Zinio. ¿Qué es Zinio? Es un kiosco online donde puedes suscribirte a revistas o comprar un número de la publicación de tu elección. Si eliges esta opción y necesitas ayuda no dudes en dejarme un comentario, intentaré ayudarte en lo que pueda. Por cierto, la plataforma Zinio te permite imprimir  o pasar a PDF un rango de páginas o la revista completa.

In Madrid there are quite a few patchwork shops who have joined where you can buy the fabrics but, unfortunately, the magazine with the pattern is not so easy to get. Well, I tried and couldn't get one. Don't worry!! I found out that there was a digital edition of the magazine so I decided to subscribe to it through Zinio. What is Zinio? It's is an online newsagent where you can subscribe to magazines or just get one number of you chosen publication. If you go for this option and need help with it don't hesitate and leave me a message, I will try to help you. By the way, the Zinio platform lets you print out the pages you want and allows you to print to PDF, some pages or the whole magazine.

I have ordered my fabrics to Patchwork & Company, but there are other participating stores where you can get the fabrics like Dechado and Primores. Mystery Button Club 2016 de Lynette Anderson

Creo que fue el sábado de la semana pasada cuando me enteré del Mystery de Lynette del Club del Botón, la granja Anderson. Tan pronto como vi la foto de abajo, con el gallo, pensé en mi amiga MJ. Adora los diseños de Lynette, pero todavía más las gallinas y gallos, y casi todos los animales de granja. Un par de días más tarde le escribí un e-mail a Lynette y este lunes le mandé los formularios de mis amigas MJ y Rocío, junto con el mío, para apuntarnos al Mystery. Así que aquí estamos las tres esperando que llegue el paquete, deseando ponernos a coser.

I think it was Monday last week when I found out about Lynette's Mystery Button Club, Anderson's Farm. As soon as I saw the picture below, with rooster in it, I thought of my friend MJ. She loves Lynette's designs but most of all she loves hens and roosters, and almost all farm animals. A couple of days later I emailed Lynette and on Monday this week I sent her the forms of my friends MJ and Rocío, together with mine, to join the Mystery. So now the three of us are waiting for the shipment, eager to start stitching.

Y por fin le toca a mí hijo!!!

Todavía recuerdo cuando, hace un par de años, mi hijo me dijo que cosía un montón pero nunca nada para él. Bueno, eso no es completamente cierto; he hecho algunas cosas para él aunque nada demasiado elaborado.

I still remember when, about a couple of years ago, my son told me that I sew a lot but never for him. Well, that's not completely true, I have done a few things for him but never anything too complicated.

Tan pronto como me lo pidió supe que le haría un quilt que había visto en el libro "Le petit Monde" de Jacqueline Morel. El nombre del quilt elegido fue "Old Sailboats" (viejos barcos) y me encantó tan pronto como lo vi.  Para l@s que no conozcáis el libro os recomiendo que le echéis un vistazo. Tiene proyectos superbonitos como este quilt, los quilt "The Goose Game" (El juego de la oca) y "Flowered Square" (Cuadrado floreado) y otros mucho proyectos.

As soon as he asked me I knew I would make him a quilt I had seen on the book "Le petit Monde" by Jacqueline Morel. The name of the quilt was the "Old Sailboats" and I loved it as soon as I saw it. For those of you who don't know the book I fully recommend you to have a look at it. It has really nice projects as this quilt,"The Goose Game" and the "Flowered Square" quilts (shown on the following pictures) and many more projects.

Para el quilt de mi hijo he tenido que hacer cambios sobre el original para que cubra su cama. El mío tendrá 18 barcos en vez de 9 y muchas más estrellas. Me ha costado un poco empezar desde que me lo pidió pero tengo la esperanza de poder terminarlo para su cumpleaños en octubre. Bueno,  ya he hecho 10 barcos en un fin de semana. Ya veremos cuánto tardo con lo que me queda. Espero que os guste tanto como a mí, no siempre es fácil elegir cosas que hacer para chicos (cosas patch), sobretodo cuando estamos hablando de un adolescente de 15 años. ¿Qué os parece? ¿Creéis que le gustará? Esperemos que sí. Prometo enseñároslo cuando lo tenga terminado.

For my son's quilt I had to redesign the original one so it will fit his bed. Mine will have 18 boats instead of 9 and many more stars. It has taken me quite a long to start it since he asked for it but hopefully it will be finished by his birthday in October. Well, I have already made 10 boats on a weekend. Will see how long it takes me to finish what is left. Hope you all like it as much as I do, it isn't very easy to choose something a boy will like (I mean patchwork like), mainly when he's a 15 year's old teenager. What do you think about it? Do you think he will like it? I hope he does. I promise I will show it you as soon as it's finished.

Una colcha para Sara

Mi sobri Sara nació el pasado 6 de marzo y ha tenido el honor de ser la primera bebita de la familia. ¡Por fin podré hacer cosas monísimas de niña! Para empezar he hecho un quilt  cubre cama que también podrá utilizar cuando se tumbe en el sofá (dentro de unos años). Como  mi hermana y cuñado adoran el rojo, decidí usarlo (aunque en un tono apagado) como color base de la colcha.

My niece Sara was born the 6^th of march and has had the honor to be the first baby girl in the family. I will be finally able to make nice girly things!! To start with I have made a quilt to cover her bed which she will also be able to use when lying in the sofa (in a few years). Since my sister and brother in-law love red, I decided to use it (although in a softer shade) as the main color.

Cuando la vi en el stand de L'Agulla de Terrassa de Creativa Madrid, decidí comprar el kit porque pensé que era monísimo. Me encanta el lino, es precioso y tiene unos dibujos de flores y corazones muy dulces. Además el bordado de la osita le da un toque muy entrañable sin hacer que resulte una colcha demasiado infantil. A ver si le dura muchos años y sigue utilizándola cuando sea una adolescente.

When I saw it in the stand of L'Agulla de Tarrasa at Creativa Madrid, I decided to get the kit  because I thought it was really cute. I love the linen fabric, it’s very beautiful and has some flower and heart really sweet patterns.  The embroidery of the teddy bear is really sweet but I think it doesn’t look too childish. Hopefully it will last for many years and she’ll use it even when she becomes a teenager.

La pequeña Sara no pudo decir si le gustaba o no, pero sus padres quedaron muy contentos con el quilt, por lo que mi hermana me ha pedido que le haga el cojín a conjunto con el nombre de la peque aplicado. Después de pasar un tiempo achuchando a Sara no pude decir que no, por lo que tengo que ponerme manos a la obra para terminarlo para mi próxima visita.

Baby Sara couldn’t say if she liked it or not, but her parents were really happy  with the quilt, so my sister has told me that she would like a matching cushion with Sara’s name on it.  After spending some time cuddling Sara I couldn’t say no, so I have to get  my hands on it so I can finish it for my next visit.

También me gustaría mostrados la bolsa que mi madre hizo para la peque. Es muy dulce y de niña; a mí hermana le encantó.

I would also like to show you the bag my mum made for her. I think it's very sweet and girly; my sister loved it.

¿Qué haces para un chico de 11 años?

--> ¿Qué haces cuando tu hijo de 11 años te pide que le hagas algo de patchwork?

El mío me lo pidió hace cosa de un mes. Me dijo que hacía cosas para todo el mundo excepto para él. Razón no le faltaba pero no se me ocurría que hacer para un chico y encima con una edad un poco “peliaguda”…. ¿Qué hacer?

Después de comentarlo con Cristina decidí hacerle un cojín-manta. Quería algo que no tardase mucho en hacerse y fue lo mejor que se me ocurrió.

Me lo lleve un día a La Tertulia del Patch y deje que eligiera el mismo las telas. Lo mío no es elegir telas masculinas.

¿Qué os parece? A mi hijo le encantó. Cada vez que se tumba en el sofá a ver una peli se va en busca de su cojín-manta. Que decir, que yo contentísima de haber acertado.

Ahora a seguir pensando para la próxima vez que me pida que le haga otra cosa.

Mi colcha muestrario

¡Por fin he terminado mi colcha muestrario! Siiiiiii!!!! La verdad es que la termine hace un par de semanas pero no había sacado tiempo para hacer las fotos para compartirla con todos vosotros.

Aún recuerdo cuando llegué a "La Tertulia del Patch" y me dieron la opción de empezar con la colcha o con un cojín manta. En cuanto vi la colcha de Cristina, mi super profe de patchwork, no pude resistirme. Me enamoré de esa colcha en cuanto la vi. Lo que más me atrajo fue el jardín, me pareció ideal, aunque he disfrutado con cada uno de los bloques que iba haciendo y han terminado por encantarme todos.

Elegir las telas fue lo peor, aún recuerdo que me tiré unas dos horas para elegir las telas de la colcha. Menos mal que tanto Chus como Cristina me dijeron que fuese a elegirlas unos días antes para no perder toda la primera clase decidiciendo que telas utilizar. ¡Que soletes de chicas! Si no hubiese sido por su ayuda aún estaría intentado decidirme.

Mientras hacía la colcha me apunté a un curso de iniciación al bordado. Para poner en práctica lo que había aprendido decidí bordar un corazón en el cuadradito del medio del bloque nine-patch.

 

¿No creéis que es preciosa? A mi me encanta. Por muchas colchas que haga esta siempre será la primera y por lo tanto será muy especial.

Aprovecho para dar las gracias a mi profe Cristina, espero que esta sea la primera de muchas colchas que hagamos juntas.
