Un regalo de... Maddalen

¿Quién es Maddalen? Maddalen es la fantástica y dulce propietaria de un apartamento rural en Navarra que visité hace un par de años. Desde que llegamos nos cuidó como si fuéramos de la familia, hasta terminamos intercambiando regalos antes de irnos. Había llevado el costurero, creo recordar que estaba haciéndome la funda del iPad, y le encantó el alfiletero así que decidí dárselo como un pequeño presente para agradecerle la maravillosa estancia que habíamos tenido.

Who is Maddalen? Maddalen is the fantastic and very sweet owner of a countryside apartment in Navarra I visited a couple of years ago. She took care of us since we arrived as if we were family, so it was that we even exchange presents before leaving. I had taken with me my sewing kit, I think I was doing my iPad case at that time, and she loved the pin cushion I had so I decided to give it to her as a little present to thank her for the marvelous time we'd had.

En algún momento de las vacaciones cambió el mantel de la mesa de la terraza por uno nuevo que acababa de hacer con esta preciosa tela de rayas típica del País Vasco.  Tan pronto como lo vi me enamoré, así que sin pensárselo me trajo un trozo de la tela del mantel que le había sobrado. Sí, lo sé, eso fue hace casi dos años y no había hecho nada hasta ahora. Bueno, admito que lo he ido dejando porque siempre había alguna otra cosa que hacer. Ahora por fin he hecho cuatro individuales que me encantan. El fin de semana pasado los estrené para merendar. ¿No os encantan sus colores? Los hice simples porque pensé que la tela era demasiado bonita para hacer algo muy elaborado. ¿Creéis que he hecho bien?  Como siempre, espero que os haya gustado el resultado.

At some point she changed the tablecloth of the table we had at the terrace of the apartment with a new one she had made with this really nice striped fabric typical from the basque country. As soon as I saw it I told her that I loved it so, without even thinking about it, she brought me a piece of fabric she had left after making the tablecloth. Yes, I know, that was almost two years ago and I haven't done anything 'till now. Well, I must admit that I kept leaving it aside because there was always something else to do. Now I have finally made a set of four place mats that I adore. I used them for the first time last weekend to have my afternoon tea. Don't you like its lovely colors? I have kept them simple because I thought the fabric was too beautiful to make anything too elaborated. Have I done right? As usual, I hope you have liked the result.

Me gustaría aprovechar la oportunidad para agradecer a Maddalen otra vez por las maravillosas vacaciones que pasamos en Anikuenea. Maddalen, seguro que te volvemos a visitar pronto.

Mystery Button Club 2016 de Lynette Anderson

Creo que fue el sábado de la semana pasada cuando me enteré del Mystery de Lynette del Club del Botón, la granja Anderson. Tan pronto como vi la foto de abajo, con el gallo, pensé en mi amiga MJ. Adora los diseños de Lynette, pero todavía más las gallinas y gallos, y casi todos los animales de granja. Un par de días más tarde le escribí un e-mail a Lynette y este lunes le mandé los formularios de mis amigas MJ y Rocío, junto con el mío, para apuntarnos al Mystery. Así que aquí estamos las tres esperando que llegue el paquete, deseando ponernos a coser.

I think it was Monday last week when I found out about Lynette's Mystery Button Club, Anderson's Farm. As soon as I saw the picture below, with rooster in it, I thought of my friend MJ. She loves Lynette's designs but most of all she loves hens and roosters, and almost all farm animals. A couple of days later I emailed Lynette and on Monday this week I sent her the forms of my friends MJ and Rocío, together with mine, to join the Mystery. So now the three of us are waiting for the shipment, eager to start stitching.

El té de las 5... un abrigo para mi tetera

En la entrada de hoy me gustaría compartir con vosotr@s mi amor por el té y el Reino Unido. En mi última visita a York, una de mis ciudades favoritas (os recomiendo que la visitéis si todavía no lo habéis hecho), compré un libro titulado Stitch at Home de Mandy Shaw que resultó ser un gran hallazgo.

At today's post I would like to share with all of you my love for tea and the UK. On my last visit to York, one of my favorite cities (I fully recommend you to visit it if you still haven't done so), I bought a book titled Stitch at Home by Mandy Shaw which was an incredible find.

Me encantan todos los proyectos que Mandy comparte con nosotr@s  a través de su libro, especialmente este cubretetera. ¿No os parece realmente mono? Bueno, el mío fue amor a primera vista y en cuanto he sacado tiempo me he hecho uno para lucir en mis meriendas de amigas. Si os animáis a hacer una primero haceros una plantilla para comprobar que el tamaño es el correcto para vuestra tetera; yo tuve que cambiar la plantilla porque no encajaba para la mía.

I love all the projects which Mandy shares with us through her book, especially this tea cosy. Don't you think it's really cute? Well, mine was love at first sight so I've finally found the time to make one to show off at my tea parties. If you decide to make it first make a template to check that it's the right size for your teapot. I had to change the template because it didn't fit mine.

Y por fin le toca a mí hijo!!!

Todavía recuerdo cuando, hace un par de años, mi hijo me dijo que cosía un montón pero nunca nada para él. Bueno, eso no es completamente cierto; he hecho algunas cosas para él aunque nada demasiado elaborado.

I still remember when, about a couple of years ago, my son told me that I sew a lot but never for him. Well, that's not completely true, I have done a few things for him but never anything too complicated.

Tan pronto como me lo pidió supe que le haría un quilt que había visto en el libro "Le petit Monde" de Jacqueline Morel. El nombre del quilt elegido fue "Old Sailboats" (viejos barcos) y me encantó tan pronto como lo vi.  Para l@s que no conozcáis el libro os recomiendo que le echéis un vistazo. Tiene proyectos superbonitos como este quilt, los quilt "The Goose Game" (El juego de la oca) y "Flowered Square" (Cuadrado floreado) y otros mucho proyectos.

As soon as he asked me I knew I would make him a quilt I had seen on the book "Le petit Monde" by Jacqueline Morel. The name of the quilt was the "Old Sailboats" and I loved it as soon as I saw it. For those of you who don't know the book I fully recommend you to have a look at it. It has really nice projects as this quilt,"The Goose Game" and the "Flowered Square" quilts (shown on the following pictures) and many more projects.

Para el quilt de mi hijo he tenido que hacer cambios sobre el original para que cubra su cama. El mío tendrá 18 barcos en vez de 9 y muchas más estrellas. Me ha costado un poco empezar desde que me lo pidió pero tengo la esperanza de poder terminarlo para su cumpleaños en octubre. Bueno,  ya he hecho 10 barcos en un fin de semana. Ya veremos cuánto tardo con lo que me queda. Espero que os guste tanto como a mí, no siempre es fácil elegir cosas que hacer para chicos (cosas patch), sobretodo cuando estamos hablando de un adolescente de 15 años. ¿Qué os parece? ¿Creéis que le gustará? Esperemos que sí. Prometo enseñároslo cuando lo tenga terminado.

For my son's quilt I had to redesign the original one so it will fit his bed. Mine will have 18 boats instead of 9 and many more stars. It has taken me quite a long to start it since he asked for it but hopefully it will be finished by his birthday in October. Well, I have already made 10 boats on a weekend. Will see how long it takes me to finish what is left. Hope you all like it as much as I do, it isn't very easy to choose something a boy will like (I mean patchwork like), mainly when he's a 15 year's old teenager. What do you think about it? Do you think he will like it? I hope he does. I promise I will show it you as soon as it's finished.

Un clutch muy British

Aquí estoy con mi clutch de estilo británico. Recientemente encontré esta tela llena de Vespas que había comprado hace ya bastante. Aunque la compré porque me enamoré de su diseño, no la había usado antes porque no sabía qué hacer con ella. Supongo que es algo que me pasa de vez en cuando, compro telas que me encantan cuando las veo en la tienda pero que luego no sé qué hacer con ellas. Por suerte encontré algo que hacer con esta, un clutch diseño de Michelle Patterns.

Here am I with my Brit Style clutch. Recently, I found this fabric full of Vespa motorcycles I had bought quite a long time ago. Even if I bought it because I loved the design I haven't used it before because I didn't really know what to use it for. It's something that happens to me every now and then, I buy fabrics that love when I see them at the shop but don't really know what to do with them afterwards. Luckily, I thought of something for this one, a clutch designed by Michelle Patterns.

¿Te imaginas con unos vaqueros, una sencilla camisa blanca,  unas manoletinas rojas, tu clutch y saliendo a tomar algo? Yo sí, oh sí, sí!!! Bueno, ahora me tengo que ir a trabajar pero puede que sea el plan para mañana.

Can you imagine yourself with blue jeans, a simple white shirt, a pair of red flat shoes, your clutch and getting out to have a drink? I do, oh yes I do!!! Well, I have to go to work now but it might be my plan tomorrow.

El shopping bag Country Kitty de... Maru

En marzo de 2015, Country Kitty publicó un tutorial donde explicaba como hacer esta preciosa shopping bag. Tan pronto como publicó el tutorial me hice uno, como podéis ver en este enlace. Resultó ser muy útil porque es grande y muy ligera, así que la usé un montón hasta el final del verano. En el trabajo todo el mundo me dijo que le encantaba y mi jefa, Maru, me pidió una. Hoy me gustaría compartir con vosotr@s la que hice para ella.

In March 2015, Country Kitty published a tutorial where she explained how to make this gorgeous shopping bag. As soon as she published the tutorial I made one for myself, as you can see at this link. I found it very useful, because it's quite big and very light, so I used it quite a lot until the end of the summer. Everyone at work told me they loved it and my boss, Maru, asked me for one. Today I would like to share with all of you the one I made for her.

La suya es una versión más pequeña ya que no quería una tan grande. ¿No os parece adorable? Si os gusta podéis conseguir el tutorial gratuito en la web de Country Kitty y empezar ya a haceros una para la próxima primavera. Veréis que es muy fácil de hacer, no tardaréis más de una tarde. My BOBO

Bueno, la Navidad ha pasado y ya he tenido el tiempo suficiente para recoger la casa después de las vacaciones, además de descansar un poco. Así que siguiendo mis propósitos de Año Nuevo, aquí estoy con una nueva entrada. Esta vez me gustaría compartir con tod@s el Bobo que hice siguiendo una idea de Marta Recio, la sobrina de mi amiga. Vio uno similar en la web y le pidió a su tía, mi amiga Mª José,  que le hiciera uno parecido. Le dio todas las instrucciones de cómo quería el Bobo: tamaño, color, puntos, broche a usar; bueno, cada uno de los detalles necesarios para conseguir el resultado que tenía en mente.

Well, Xmas is gone and I've had enough time to arrange the house after the holidays, and rest a little bit. So following my New Year's proposals here I am with a new post. This time I would like to share with all of you the Bobo I made following the idea of Marta Recio, my friend's niece. She saw a similar one on the web and asked her aunty, my friend Mª José, to make a similar one for her. She gave her all the instructions of how she wanted the Bobo: size, color, knitting points, closing brooch. Well, every single detail to get what she has in mind.

Aún recuerdo cuando Mª José me contó cómo sus compañeras de clase de patchwork se volvieron completamente locas por hacerse uno, o quizá debería decir uno de cada color. No me extraña que lo adoren. Creo que es maravilloso y muy fácil de hacer. ¿No os encanta su simplicidad? Como dicen "menos es más".

I still remember Mª José telling me how all her classmates from patchwork became completely nuts about making one, or should I say one of each color, for themselves. No wonder they love it. I think it's really gorgeous, and very easy to make. Don't you love its simplicity?? As they say "less is more".
