Bolso Vintage Lino

Este bolso tan asombroso y de estilo vintage es diseño de Ausa Blanca. Lo descubrí hace un par de años, en mi primera visita al Festival de Patchwork de Sitges. Tan pronto como lo vi supe que tenía que ser mío (vamos, como siempre, jejeje). Me encantó el conjunto de lino, puntillas y arpillera; pensé que era un conjunto algo curioso y que nunca hubiera elegido por mi misma (sin tener el bolso en mente), pero conjuntaba perfectamente y ha terminado siendo la mezcla perfecta para este bolso de look vintage.

This really amazing vintage bag is a design of Ausa Blanca. I discovered it a couple of years ago on my first visit to Sitges Patchwork Festival. As soon as I saw it I knew it had to be mine (as usual, hahaha). I loved the match of linen, laces and burlap; I thought it was a curious match I wouldn’t have ever chosen by myself (without having this handbag in mind) but it matched perfectly and it has been a great mix for a vintage looking bag.

Aunque la idea era escribir y publicar la entrada el viernes pasado (como intento hacer cada viernes) no lo hice porque no pude hacer las fotos de mi nuevo bolso. Y os preguntaréis porque… Bien, la verdad es que no me decidía por que botón ponerle para el cierre. Al final he elegido el que veis en las fotos, uno de nácar, pero el otro era también maravilloso (y un regalito de mi querida MJ) por eso me ha costado tanto decidirme. Aunque el diseño original no tenía botón al terminarlo sentí que le faltaba algo, ¿creéis que he hecho bien en ponerle uno?

Even if I had in mind writing my post last Friday (as I try to do every Friday) I didn’t do it because I couldn’t take the pictures of my new handbag. You may ask yourself why…. Well, truth is that I couldn’t decide which button to use for closing the bag. I have finally chosen the one shown on the picture, a mother pearl one, but still think that the other one was also very gorgeous (and a little present of my dear MJ) that’s why took me so long to decide. Even though the original design didn't have one I felt like there was something missing when I finished it, have I done right?

Un clutch muy British

Aquí estoy con mi clutch de estilo británico. Recientemente encontré esta tela llena de Vespas que había comprado hace ya bastante. Aunque la compré porque me enamoré de su diseño, no la había usado antes porque no sabía qué hacer con ella. Supongo que es algo que me pasa de vez en cuando, compro telas que me encantan cuando las veo en la tienda pero que luego no sé qué hacer con ellas. Por suerte encontré algo que hacer con esta, un clutch diseño de Michelle Patterns.

Here am I with my Brit Style clutch. Recently, I found this fabric full of Vespa motorcycles I had bought quite a long time ago. Even if I bought it because I loved the design I haven't used it before because I didn't really know what to use it for. It's something that happens to me every now and then, I buy fabrics that love when I see them at the shop but don't really know what to do with them afterwards. Luckily, I thought of something for this one, a clutch designed by Michelle Patterns.

¿Te imaginas con unos vaqueros, una sencilla camisa blanca,  unas manoletinas rojas, tu clutch y saliendo a tomar algo? Yo sí, oh sí, sí!!! Bueno, ahora me tengo que ir a trabajar pero puede que sea el plan para mañana.

Can you imagine yourself with blue jeans, a simple white shirt, a pair of red flat shoes, your clutch and getting out to have a drink? I do, oh yes I do!!! Well, I have to go to work now but it might be my plan tomorrow.

El shopping bag Country Kitty de... Maru

En marzo de 2015, Country Kitty publicó un tutorial donde explicaba como hacer esta preciosa shopping bag. Tan pronto como publicó el tutorial me hice uno, como podéis ver en este enlace. Resultó ser muy útil porque es grande y muy ligera, así que la usé un montón hasta el final del verano. En el trabajo todo el mundo me dijo que le encantaba y mi jefa, Maru, me pidió una. Hoy me gustaría compartir con vosotr@s la que hice para ella.

In March 2015, Country Kitty published a tutorial where she explained how to make this gorgeous shopping bag. As soon as she published the tutorial I made one for myself, as you can see at this link. I found it very useful, because it's quite big and very light, so I used it quite a lot until the end of the summer. Everyone at work told me they loved it and my boss, Maru, asked me for one. Today I would like to share with all of you the one I made for her.

La suya es una versión más pequeña ya que no quería una tan grande. ¿No os parece adorable? Si os gusta podéis conseguir el tutorial gratuito en la web de Country Kitty y empezar ya a haceros una para la próxima primavera. Veréis que es muy fácil de hacer, no tardaréis más de una tarde. My BOBO

Bueno, la Navidad ha pasado y ya he tenido el tiempo suficiente para recoger la casa después de las vacaciones, además de descansar un poco. Así que siguiendo mis propósitos de Año Nuevo, aquí estoy con una nueva entrada. Esta vez me gustaría compartir con tod@s el Bobo que hice siguiendo una idea de Marta Recio, la sobrina de mi amiga. Vio uno similar en la web y le pidió a su tía, mi amiga Mª José,  que le hiciera uno parecido. Le dio todas las instrucciones de cómo quería el Bobo: tamaño, color, puntos, broche a usar; bueno, cada uno de los detalles necesarios para conseguir el resultado que tenía en mente.

Well, Xmas is gone and I've had enough time to arrange the house after the holidays, and rest a little bit. So following my New Year's proposals here I am with a new post. This time I would like to share with all of you the Bobo I made following the idea of Marta Recio, my friend's niece. She saw a similar one on the web and asked her aunty, my friend Mª José, to make a similar one for her. She gave her all the instructions of how she wanted the Bobo: size, color, knitting points, closing brooch. Well, every single detail to get what she has in mind.

Aún recuerdo cuando Mª José me contó cómo sus compañeras de clase de patchwork se volvieron completamente locas por hacerse uno, o quizá debería decir uno de cada color. No me extraña que lo adoren. Creo que es maravilloso y muy fácil de hacer. ¿No os encanta su simplicidad? Como dicen "menos es más".

I still remember Mª José telling me how all her classmates from patchwork became completely nuts about making one, or should I say one of each color, for themselves. No wonder they love it. I think it's really gorgeous, and very easy to make. Don't you love its simplicity?? As they say "less is more".

Bolso Puzzle Estrellas de... Francesca Ogliari

¡Hace tanto de mi última entrada! Admito que las altas temperaturas me afectan de manera horrible y que no me apetece hacer nada más que tumbarme en el sofá y ver la tele (supongo que es lo que tiene ser del norte). Las temperaturas han bajado por fin, así que ya puedo empezar con la rutina. Aunque no me haya apetecido darle a la aguja ni al teclado, os he echado de menos a vosotr@s y a vuestros bonitos comentarios, por lo que estoy realmente feliz de estar de vuelta.

It's been a long time since my last post!!! I must admit that high temperatures are awful for me, since I don't feel like doing anything but lying on the sofa and watching TV (I guess it's part of being from the north). Temperatures have, finally, come down so I can start my routine. Even though I didn't feel like making any patchwork or computer work, I've missed you and your kind comments a lot, so I'm really happy to be back.

Hoy comparto con vosotr@s el bolso que hice con Francesca Ogliari, de Shabby Home, en su última visita a La Tertulia del Patch en Madrid. Es un diseño de su último libro, De Vuelta a Casa. Fui al curso con mis amigas Mª José y Rocío y, como siempre, nos los pasamos fenomenal con Francesca. Es muy dulce y una profesora increíblemente paciente, si todavía no has hecho un curso con ella te recomiendo que lo apuntes en tu lista de deseos, ¡merece la pena! Aquell@s que llevéis ya un tiempo siguiendo mi blog sabréis que yo soy superfan del trabajo de Francesca, supongo que su estilo y el mío son similares y que eso ayuda, así que intento ir a todos los que puedo.

Today I'm sharing with you the handbag a made with Francesca Ogliari, from Shabby Home, on her last visit to La Tertulia del Patch in Madrid. It's a design from her last book, Back Home. I went to the course with my friends Mª José and Rocío and, as usual, we had a great time with Francesca. She's really sweet and an incredibly patient teacher, if you haven't taken a course with her yet I recommend you to write it down in your wish list, it's really worth it!! Those of you who have been following my blog for a while will know I'm a great fan of Francesca's work, I guess her style it's quite similar to mine so that makes things easier, so I try to take as many of her courses as I can.

Me costó un poco pero terminé el bolso y me encanta el resultado final, aunque no estoy segura de si volvería a hacer otro (quizá cuando se me olvide lo duro que fue en algunos momentos). ¿Os gusta? Por favor, decidme que sí que me costó mucho coser tanta capa, en algún momento pensé que me cargaba la máquina de coser, jejeje.

It took my a while to finish the handbag but I love the final result, though I'm not sure I would repeat it (may be when I forget how hard it got at some points). Do you like it? Please, tell me you do because it was quite hard to sew so many layers together, at some points I thought I would destroy my sewing machine, LOL.

Shopping Bag de Country Kitty

Como os había prometido hace un par de semanas... Me gustaría compartir con tod@s vosotr@s las Shopping Bags que mi amiga MJ y yo hemos hecho usando el tutorial gratuito que Federica, del blog Country Kitty, ha compartido con todas nosotras. Debo admitir que soy una gran admiradora de su trabajo así que no pude resistirme cuando vi el tutorial. Hasta tuve la tentación de hacer una visita a una de las tiendas de Susie Watson, pero supongo que tendrá que esperar hasta mi próxima visita al Reino Unido.

As I'd promised a couple of weeks ago... I would like to share with all of you the Shopping Bags my friend MJ and I have done using the free tutorial Federica, from the blog Country Kitty, has shared with all of us. I must admit I'm a great admirer of her work so I couldn't resist myself when I saw the tutorial. I even had a temptation to visit a Susie Watson shop, but I guess that will have to wait until my next visit to the UK.

Como podéis ver en las fotos, queda precioso uses las telas que uses. MJ y yo los hemos hecho distintos pero hemos querido mantener el tono rosa del bolso original de Federica. MJ ha usado un lino color crema y unas telas Tilda en tonos rosa (la del corazón de su última colección). En mi caso, he usado algunas telas de la última colección de Tilda (para los corazones y los bolsillos) mezcladas con algunas de una colección antigua, y para el exterior una telas de rayas que estaba reservando desde hace tiempo para una ocasión especial.

As you can all see in the pictures, it looks really nice no matter what fabrics you use. MJ and I have made them using different fabrics but keeping the pink shade from Federica's original one. MJ has used a creamy linen fabric and some Tilda pink tone fabrics (the heart one is from the latest collection). In my case I used some fabrics from Tilda's latest collection (for the hearts and pockets) mixed with some from one of the old collections and for the outside I used a striped fabric I had been keeping, quite long, for a special occasion.

Two weeks ago I published a post where I told you about a free tutorial Country Kitty had shared with all of us. In that post I asked you if you would like to make it all together. Have any of you started doing it? The Spanish quilters probably were quite busy at Sitges Patchwork Festival. So for those of you who didn't have the chance to do it, I would like to encourage you to make one, it's quite easy (Federica's instructions are very good) and I think the final result its gorgeous.

Today I would like to share with all of you the fantastic free-tutorial Federica has published in her blog, Country Kitty, this week. Most of you have probably seen it by now but here I am just in case. The shopping bag she shows how to make it's so pretty it would be a shame any of you would miss it.

Ella ha usado unas telas divinas de Susie Watson pero, desgraciadamente, no sé dónde podría conseguirlas en Madrid, así que para el mío he elegido unas que tenía por casa (las de la foto de arriba). Estoy orgullosa de mí misma porque no he salido corriendo a la tienda a comprar telas nuevas y he de decir que me siento bien por ello. ¡Debo estar madurando!

She has used some really marvelous fabrics from Susie Watson but, unfortunately, I don't know where I could get them in Madrid. So for mine I have chosen some fabrics I already had at home (see picture above). I 'm proud of myself because I haven't run to the shop to get new fabrics and I must say I feel good about it. I must be growing up!!!

Mi bolso Amélie de invierno

Por último, después de todos los bolsos que os he enseñado, me gustaría mostraros el bolso Amélie que hice para mí. Bueno, eso no es del todo cierto!!! Lo hice para vender pero me gustó tanto que decidí quedármelo. Supongo que es algo que pasa con cierta frecuencia, por lo menos a mí. ¿Os pasa también a vosotr@s? Estoy casi segura que la respuesta en un SÍ en mayúsculas.

Last but not least, I would like to show you the Amélie bag I've made for myself. Well, that's not right!! I made it to sell but I liked it so much that I decided to keep it for me. I guess that's something that happens quite often, at least it tends to happen to me. Does it happen to you as well?? I'm pretty sure the answer is a capital YES.

Bolsos Amélie para vender

¡Buenos días! Hoy me gustaría compartir con tod@s vosotr@s unos bolsos que he hecho para vender este invierno. Estos son los que me quedaban la semana antes de Navidad (ya solo quedan el azul y el rosa), al resto no me dio tiempo a hacerles fotos. ¡Eso me pasa por tardar tanto en hacerlas!

Good morning!!! Today I would love to share with all of you some bags I made to sell this winter. These are the ones I had left the week before Xmas (now the only ones left are the blue and the pink one), I didn't have the chance to photograph the sold ones. That's what happens when it takes you so long to take the pictures!!!

Los bolsos los he hecho usando el diseño Amélie de Country Kitty. ¿No os parece un diseño precioso? Por si alguna está interesada, podéis encontrar el patrón en su tienda de Etsy. Sale muy bien de precio y yo ya lo he amortizado de sobra con los que he vendido. Creo que es el bolso que más he hecho y vendido.

The bags were made using the Amélie Bag design from Country Kitty. Don't you think that it's a beautiful design? In case any of you is interested, you can find the pattern at her Etsy shop. The price is fair and I've got the money back way over from the bags I sold. Probably this is the bag I've done and sold the most.

Las que me seguís desde hace tiempo sabréis que no es la primera vez que os muestro un bolso hecho usando este diseño. El año pasado, por febrero, hice uno usando telas de patch de algodón para darle un look un poco más primaveral. Esta vez me he decantado por telas más gruesas porque, según se acercaba el frío, cada vez me apetecía más usar bolsos de "invierno". ¿No os pasa también a vosotras? Yo tiendo a separar, no solo la ropa sino también los accesorios, entre temporadas de buen tiempo y de frío. ¿Y por qué digo buen tiempo y no verano? Porque en cuanto empieza a hacer un poco de calorcito y sol me apetece sacar los accesorios clasificados en el grupo de buen tiempo. Vale!!! La regla no aplica a todo, no saco las sandalias en marzo si hace una semana de calorcito y solazo.

Those of you who have been following me for a long time, will know that this is not the first time that I show you a bag made using this design. Last year, around February, I made one using cotton patchwork fabrics in order to give the bag a sprint time look. This time I've decided to use thicker fabrics because, as cold was getting closer, I felt like using "winter" bags. Doesn't this happen to you as well? I tend to separate, not only clothes but accessories, in nice weather and cold groups. Why do I say nice weather and not summer? That's because as soon and the heat rises and the sun brights I feel like using the accessories in the nice weather group. Well!!! This rule doesn't apply to all of them, I don't start using my sandals in March even if we get a week of nice weather.

Un bolso para Cuqui

Sé que ha pasado mucho tiempo desde la última entrada donde os enseñaba una de mis labores. He estado cosiendo un montón y también he aprovechado para hacer cambios en el blog, como bien podéis ver. Por cierto, espero que os guste el nuevo look que le he dado. Así que finalmente, he encontrado un ratito para enseñaros algunos de los proyectos en los que he estado trabajando.

I know it's been quite long since the last post where I had shown you something done by me. I've been sewing a lot and making changes to the blog, as you can all see. By the way, hope you all like the new look. So finally, I've found the time to show you some of the stuff I've been working on.

Empezaré con el bolso que hice para la profe de piano de mi hijo. Estaba buscando algo cómodo, con espacio y fácil de llevar, sobretodo cuando estaba de vacaciones. Me dijo lo que buscaba y yo lo diseñé. ¿Os gusta el resultado final? A ella le encantó!!!

I will start with the handbag I did for my son's piano teacher. She was looking for something comfortable, with plenty of space and easy to carry, mainly, whenever she was on holidays. She told me what she was looking for and I designed it. Do you like the final result? She loved it!!!

Un portadocumentos de viaje

Hace unos meses, mi amiga Alicia me pidió a ver si le podía hacer un portadocumentos donde poder llevar todos los documentos en sus viajes. Estaba planeando sus vacaciones de verano en Estados Unidos y quería tener toda la documentación siempre cerca.

A few months ago, my friend Alicia asked me to make a document holder for taking all type of documents when travelling. She was planning her summer holidays to the States and she wanted to have all the documentation close to her.

Era la primera vez que hacía una, así que me costó un poco pensar y dibujar el diseño que usaría. Quería algo útil, con mucho espacio y bonito. Hice ésta para mí para poder mostrársela a Alicia y que ella hiciese los cambios que quisiese y eligiese las telas que más le gustasen; pero para mi sorpresa le encantó y me preguntó si podía quedársela. Como podéis imaginaros, no me importó en absoluto y me hizo muy feliz saber que le gustaba tanto.

It was the first time I had to make one, so it took me a while to think and draw the design.  I wanted something useful, with lots of space for everything and nice looking. I made this one for me in order to show it to Alicia so she could make any changes she wanted and choose the fabrics she liked; but to my surprise she loved it as it was, so she asked me if she could keep it. As you can all imagine I didn't mind at all and felt very happy knowing she liked it that much.

Desde el primer momento en que vi el último libro de Francesca, "El Jardín Encantado", pensé que el sombrero de jardinera vintage era monísimo, así que el año pasado me hice uno para las vacaciones de verano.

Since the first moment I saw Francesca's last book, "The Enchanted Garden", I thought the vintage gardener's hat was really cute, so last year I made one for the summer holidays.

Bolso "Amélie" de Country Kitty

Hace unos meses vi un bolso, que me gustó muchísimo, en el blog de Country Kitty. Pensé que era precioso, por lo que me puse muy contenta cuando vi que podía comprar el tutorial en su tienda de Etsy.

A few months ago I saw a handbag, I really liked, in Country Kitty’s blog. I thought it was lovely, so I was very pleased when I saw that I could get the tutorial from her Etsy shop.

Today I would like to show you the result. I hope you all like it as much as I do.  I love all the details it has; an outside pocket and two inside ones (one of them with zipper).

Aparte de ser ideal, creo que es muy práctico y que tiene el tamaño perfecto para meter todas mis “chorradillas”; digamos que tiendo a llevar bastantes cosas allá donde voy.

Apart from being so lovely, I find it very practical as it has a great size to take all my stuff; I usually like to take with me quite a lot of things no matter where I go.

Estoy tan entusiasmada con este bolso que planeo hacer más usando telas distintas y añadiéndole detalles que le den mi toque personal. Una vez hechos ya los iré compartiendo con vosotras.

I’m so enthusiastic about this handbag that I’m planning on doing more using different fabrics and adding some details to give them my personal touch. Once done I will share them with all of you.

En la entrada del bolsito de mano con volante, del 18 de mayo, os comentaba que tenía pensado hacer un tutorial del mismo. Pues después de unos cuantos meses (perdonad por la tardanza!!!), ya está listo el tutorial.

En la derecha del blog he puesto una imagen del bolsito desde la que os podéis descargar el tutorial en formato PDF de forma gratuita.

Bolso Vintage Shabby Home

La primera vez que vi una foto de este bolso no me gustó mucho. No supe porque pero el pensamiento normal de "Lo quiero y quiero hacerlo ahora mismo", no me vino a la cabeza.

When I saw a picture of this handbag for the first time there was something about it I really didn't like. I wouldn't know why but the usual thought "I want it and I want to do it right now", didn't come to mind.

Casi un año después decidí darle una oportunidad y hacerlo, busqué entre mi colección y encontré estas preciosas telas. Espero que os gusten tanto como a mí.

Nearly, I year after the first time I saw it I decided it to give it a chance so I went through my fabric's collection and found these lovely fabrics. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Ahora que lo he hecho y usado, estoy muy feliz de haberlo hecho. Tiene un tamaño estupendo y su cinta cruzada lo hace muy cómodo.

Now that I've done it and used it, I'm really happy I've done it. It has a very good size and its crossed banner is very comfy.

Bolsito de mano con volante

Aquí estoy, una vez más pidiendo disculpas por tardar tanto en escribir. Hoy, finalmente he encontrado tiempo para sentarme a escribir mientras disfruto de una taza de café y escucho lo mejor de mi querida Nina Simone.

Esta vez, me gustaría compartir con vosotr@s este bolsito de mano que hice hace un par de meses. Creo que es muy útil cuando sales a tomar algo con amigos y no te apetece llevar un maxi-bolso.

Here I am, once again apologizing for taking so long between posts. Today, I've finally found some relax time to sit down and write while I enjoy a cup of coffee and listen to the best of the lovely Nina Simone.

This time, I would like to share with you a pouch I made a couple of months ago. I think it comes very handy when you go out with your friends and just don't want to bother carrying a huge handbag.

Como podéis ver, es muy sencillo pero creo que eso lo hace más bonito. Es la clase de bolsito que se puede llevar tanto con un vestido como con unos vaqueros, quedará igual de bien con ambos.

Estoy pensando en hacer un tutorial por si a algun@ os apetece haceros uno. Por favor, enviadme un e-mail si os interesa y os lo enviaré tan pronto como esté listo.

As you can see, it's quite simple but I think that's what makes this pouch so nice. It's the kind of thing you can wear either with a nice dress or a pair of jeans, it'll look just as nice with both of them.

¿Bolsa labor o bolso?

El mes pasado Silvia, una de las profes de La Tertulia del Patch, nos enseñó un bolso precioso que había hecho. Tan pronto como mi amiga MJ lo vio, me dijo que quería hacerse uno para ella. Pensé que era muy bonito, pero no estaba demasiado convencida con el tamaño (el original era más pequeño).

Después de ver el que MJ se había hecho, decidí cambiar las medidas del original para hacer uno más grande.

Last month Silvia, one of the teacher at La Tertulia del Patch, showed as a beautiful handbag she had made. As soon as my friend MJ saw it, she told me she wanted to do one for herself. I thought it was very nice, but I wasn't quite convinced about the size (the original was smaller).

After seeing the one MJ had made, I decided to change the original measures in order to make a bigger one.

Encontré un par de telas que quedaban ideales juntas, como no podía decidir cual debía usar para el interior y cual para el exterior, decidí hacer un bolso reversible. De esta forma podría elegir el lado dependiendo de la ropa que llevase.

I found a couple of fabrics I thought that look great together, since I couldn't decide which one I should use for the inside and which one for the outside, I decided to make my handbag double-sided. This way I will choose the side depending on the clothes I'm wearing.

Una vez terminado, intenté buscas un botón para decorar un poco el bolso, pero como podéis ver terminé haciendo algo completamente distinto. Hice algo que parece el premio de un caballo de carreras, como dice mi amiga MJ. Hice un yoyo que decore con un botón cubierto con tela, un poco de puntilla y los orillos de las telas del bolso.

Once it was finished, I tried to find a button to decorate the handbag a little bit, but as you can see I ended up doing a complete different thing. I made something that looks like a horse racing prize, as my friend MJ says. I made a suffolk puff and decorated it with a button I covered with fabric, some lace and pieces I trimmed from the fabrics I used.

Mi primera intención era hacer este bolso para llevar pequeños proyectos (bordados, punto, y demás), pero me gusta tanto que no estoy segura de que lo vaya a utilizar para ese propósito. Creo que probablemente lo utilizaré como un bolso.

I first made this handbag to take small projects with me (embroidery, knitting projects, and so on), but I like it so much I'm not sure I will use it for that purpose. I think I'll probably use it as a handbag.
