Bolso Vintage Lino

Este bolso tan asombroso y de estilo vintage es diseño de Ausa Blanca. Lo descubrí hace un par de años, en mi primera visita al Festival de Patchwork de Sitges. Tan pronto como lo vi supe que tenía que ser mío (vamos, como siempre, jejeje). Me encantó el conjunto de lino, puntillas y arpillera; pensé que era un conjunto algo curioso y que nunca hubiera elegido por mi misma (sin tener el bolso en mente), pero conjuntaba perfectamente y ha terminado siendo la mezcla perfecta para este bolso de look vintage.

This really amazing vintage bag is a design of Ausa Blanca. I discovered it a couple of years ago on my first visit to Sitges Patchwork Festival. As soon as I saw it I knew it had to be mine (as usual, hahaha). I loved the match of linen, laces and burlap; I thought it was a curious match I wouldn’t have ever chosen by myself (without having this handbag in mind) but it matched perfectly and it has been a great mix for a vintage looking bag.

Aunque la idea era escribir y publicar la entrada el viernes pasado (como intento hacer cada viernes) no lo hice porque no pude hacer las fotos de mi nuevo bolso. Y os preguntaréis porque… Bien, la verdad es que no me decidía por que botón ponerle para el cierre. Al final he elegido el que veis en las fotos, uno de nácar, pero el otro era también maravilloso (y un regalito de mi querida MJ) por eso me ha costado tanto decidirme. Aunque el diseño original no tenía botón al terminarlo sentí que le faltaba algo, ¿creéis que he hecho bien en ponerle uno?

Even if I had in mind writing my post last Friday (as I try to do every Friday) I didn’t do it because I couldn’t take the pictures of my new handbag. You may ask yourself why…. Well, truth is that I couldn’t decide which button to use for closing the bag. I have finally chosen the one shown on the picture, a mother pearl one, but still think that the other one was also very gorgeous (and a little present of my dear MJ) that’s why took me so long to decide. Even though the original design didn't have one I felt like there was something missing when I finished it, have I done right?

Colcha Primavera

Lo sé, lo sé, ha pasado más de un mes desde mi última entrada. La semana después a la última publicación llovió, así que las fotos que hice de esta preciosa colcha quedaron horrorosas y decidí no publicarlas y esperar…. hasta ahora. Y creo que ha merecido la pena porque buscaba flores y sol y, finalmente, los he conseguido. Si es que la “Colcha Primavera” cuando mejor luce es en un soleado día de primavera.

I know, I know, it’s been over a month since my last post. The week after my last post rained so when I took the pictures of this beautiful quilt it looked awful, that’s why I decided not to publish it and wait… ‘Till now. I think it was worth waiting, I wanted flowers and sun and I’ve finally got both of them. The “Spring Quilt” looks better on a sunny spring day.

Aunque me queda mucho por aprender (tengo que mejorar mis bordados), me encanta como quedan las flores bordadas. Creo que el trío de lino, puntillas y bordados queda espectacular. ¿No os parece? Sencillo a la par que elegante. Las telas y los patrones son de La Costurera (http://www.lacosturerapatchwork.com), en Puerto Sagunto en Valencia, adquisición del primer año de Creativa en Madrid.

Even if I still have a long way to go (I need to learn to embroider better), I love how the embroidery flowers look. I think the match linen, lace and embroidery looks great. Don’t you? Simple and elegant. The fabrics and patterns are from La Costurera (http://www.lacosturerapatchwork.com), in Puerto Sagunto in Valencia, I got them in Creativa at the first edition in Madrid.

¡Bien! Por lo menos he terminado una de las cuatro colchas que estoy haciendo, ahora ya “solo” quedan tres por terminar. Espero que os haya gustado tanto como a mí, con suerte la siguiente en terminar será la de mi hijo.

Well!!! At least I have finished one of the four quilts I was doing, now I “only” have three to go. I hope you have all like it and hopefully the next one to finish will be my son’s.

Foxley Village by Natalie Bird (part 1)

Como os había prometido, aquí estoy con el tercero de los cuatro quilts en los que estoy trabajando actualmente. Supongo que la mayoría ya lo conocéis ya que se ha hecho muy famoso entre los aficionados al patch. Para los que no lo conozcáis todavía, se llama Foxley Village y ha sido creado por la diseñadora australiana Natalie Bird. Si os interesa saber más, seguid este enlace a una publicación anterior donde os contaba todo sobre el quilt, las telas y la revista (tanto en papel como en formato digital).

As I had promised you, here I am with the third of the four quilts I'm working on at the moment.  I guess most of you know it by know as it has become very famous in the patchworkers community. For those of you who haven't still heard about it, it's called Foxley Village and has been created by  the Australian designer Natalie Bird. If you want to know more about it follow this link to a previous post where I told you all about the quilt, the fabrics and the magazine (both paper and digital).

Los tres primeros bloques ya han sido publicados pero no he tenido tiempo de hacer todos. De hecho, aunque os enseño los dos primeros, la verdad es que todavía no he terminado el segundo, aún me queda el zorro. Con suerte, este fin de semana largo en Madrid tendré tiempo de terminar el zorro del segundo bloque y empezar con el tercero. ¡Por ahora me encanta! Tanto las telas como el diseño son maravillosos, ¡cómo no va a quedar bien!  Y es que me imagino a mi gato Clover, que también es gris, esperándome a la puerta de la tetería para tomarnos un English Breakfast con un trozo de tarta de zanahoria... Desde allí vemos al pájaro que vigila que los zorros no se metan en líos y terminen comiéndose nuestra merienda... Ahora, poco a poco, seguiré cosiendo esta historia que tan buena pinta tiene, una historia de un pájaro que vigila el pueblo, meriendas, ovejas y unos zorros muy pillos.

The first three blocks have been published but I haven't had time to do all of them. In fact, even if I'm showing you the first two, truth is that I haven't finished yet the second one, I still have the fox left. Hopefully, this long weekend in Madrid, I will have time to finish the fox on the second block and  will start with the third one. So far I love it! Both the fabrics and the design are gorgeous, how it isn't going to look great!  I can imagine my cat Clover, he's also grey, waiting for me at the tearoom door ready to enjoy an English Breakfast with carrot cake... From there we can see the bird that makes sure that the foxes don't get into trouble and take our tea and cake... Now, bit by bit, I will sew this story, a story of a bird who takes care of the village, tea time, sheets and a pair of very clever foxes.

Anderson's Farm by Lynette Anderson (part 1)

Tal y como os contaba en la última entrada, ando metida en cuatro quilt ahora mismo. La semana pasada os mostré el quilt de veleros de mi hijo y esta semana me gustaría enseñaros uno de mis favoritos, Anderson's Farm (La granja Anderson). Este es el quilt del Mystery Button Club (Club del Botón Misterioso) 2016 de Lynette Anderson.

As I told you in the previous post, I'm working on four quilts right now. Last week I showed you my son's sailboats quilt and today I would like to show you one of my favorites, Anderson's Farm. This is the Mystery Button Club Quilt for 2016 by Lynette Anderson.

¿No os encanta? Tan pronto como lo vi pensé que mi amiga MJ se enamoraría locamente cuando lo viera, así que se lo conté ese mismo día por la tarde y, al llegar a casa, le mandé un e-mail a Lynette para preguntarle por él. Cuando me levanté la mañana siguiente quedé gratamente sorprendida cuando vi que Lynette ya había contestado. Así que tres meses después aquí estoy con mis dos primeros bloques ya terminados y trabajando en el tercero. Por ahora me encanta como queda y disfruto mucho haciéndolo. Estoy usando apliquick para casi todas las aplicaciones y debo deciros que me está encantando, lo hace todo más fácil.

Don't you love it? As soon as I saw it I thought my friend MJ would completely fall in love with this quilt, so I told her that same day in the afternoon and as soon as I got home I e-mailed Lynette to enquire about it. When I woke up the morning after I was quite surprise to find out Lynette had already answered. So three months after that here I am with my first two blocks already finished and working on the third one. So far I love the way it looks and enjoy a lot doing it. I'm using apliquick for almost all the appliqué and I must admit I really like working with it, it makes thing simpler.

Quilt Old Sailboats de Jacqueline Morel

¡Hola a tod@s! Después de una gripe, trabajo, vacaciones de Semana Santa y más trabajo... ¡Aquí estoy de nuevo! Parece que han pasado siglos desde la última vez que compartí algo con vosotr@s. Hace unas semanas os contaba acerca de la colcha que le había empezado a hacer a mi hijo y hoy me gustaría enseñaros cómo va. Lo principal está hecho, todos los barcos de vela, así que ahora toca empezar con las estrellas. Tengo la esperanza de que esté terminado para junio, así podré empezar el acolchado antes de que llegue el calorazo de agosto.

Hi to all of you!!! After a flu, work, Easter holidays and more work... Here I am once again!! It seems like ages since last time I showed you something. A few weeks ago I told you about my son's quilt and today I would like to show you how it goes. The main part is done, all the sailboats, so now it's time to start with the stars. Hopefully, it will be finished by June so I will have time to quilt it before the heat of August arrives.

Para l@s que no hayáis leído el post donde os contaba acerca de la colcha de mi hijo, os cuento que esta es la versión extendida de uno de los diseños del libro "Le petit Monde" de Jacqueline Morel, "The Old Sailboats" (Los Viejos Veleros). Mi hijo ha elegido las telas y visto algunos barcos antes de unirlos pero no lo ha visto así. ¿Creéis que le gustará? ¡Eso espero!

For those of you who didn't read the post where I told you about my son's quilt, let me tell you that this quilt is the extended version of one of the designs from the book "Le petit Monde" by Jacqueline Morel, "The Old Sailboats". My son has chosen the fabrics and seen some boats before I sew them together but haven't seen it like this. Do you think my son will like it? Hope so!!!

Foxley Village Quilt by Natalie Bird

Este año viene cargado de nuevos proyectos, entre ellos el BOM Foxley Village de Natalie Bird. Supongo que ya lo conoceréis a estas alturas, pero por si alguien no lo conoce dejadme deciros que es maravilloso. El diseño es increíble y las telas Tilda, elegidas para el quilt, verdaderamente bonitas.

This year comes full of new projects, among these the Foxley Village BOM by Natalie Bird. I guess you all know it by now, but in case some of you don't let me tell you about it because it's really gorgeous. The design is amazing and the Tilda fabrics, chosen for quilt, truly beautiful.

En Madrid hay unas cuantas tiendas de patch que participan donde puedes comprar las telas pero, desgraciadamente, la revista con el patrón no es tan fácil de conseguir. Bueno, yo lo intenté y no pude hacerme con una. ¡No os asustéis! Encontré la versión digital de la revista y decidí suscribirme a través de Zinio. ¿Qué es Zinio? Es un kiosco online donde puedes suscribirte a revistas o comprar un número de la publicación de tu elección. Si eliges esta opción y necesitas ayuda no dudes en dejarme un comentario, intentaré ayudarte en lo que pueda. Por cierto, la plataforma Zinio te permite imprimir  o pasar a PDF un rango de páginas o la revista completa.

In Madrid there are quite a few patchwork shops who have joined where you can buy the fabrics but, unfortunately, the magazine with the pattern is not so easy to get. Well, I tried and couldn't get one. Don't worry!! I found out that there was a digital edition of the magazine so I decided to subscribe to it through Zinio. What is Zinio? It's is an online newsagent where you can subscribe to magazines or just get one number of you chosen publication. If you go for this option and need help with it don't hesitate and leave me a message, I will try to help you. By the way, the Zinio platform lets you print out the pages you want and allows you to print to PDF, some pages or the whole magazine.

Estoy segura que hay más pero estas son las que puedo confirmaros que participan porque he hablado con ellos en mi búsqueda de telas. Bueno, ¿os gusta el quilt que espero adorne mi cama las próximas navidades? Seáis fans de Natalie Bird, de Tilda o no, espero que os haya gustado. I have ordered my fabrics to Patchwork & Company, but there are other participating stores where you can get the fabrics like Dechado and Primores. Un regalo de... Maddalen

¿Quién es Maddalen? Maddalen es la fantástica y dulce propietaria de un apartamento rural en Navarra que visité hace un par de años. Desde que llegamos nos cuidó como si fuéramos de la familia, hasta terminamos intercambiando regalos antes de irnos. Había llevado el costurero, creo recordar que estaba haciéndome la funda del iPad, y le encantó el alfiletero así que decidí dárselo como un pequeño presente para agradecerle la maravillosa estancia que habíamos tenido.

Who is Maddalen? Maddalen is the fantastic and very sweet owner of a countryside apartment in Navarra I visited a couple of years ago. She took care of us since we arrived as if we were family, so it was that we even exchange presents before leaving. I had taken with me my sewing kit, I think I was doing my iPad case at that time, and she loved the pin cushion I had so I decided to give it to her as a little present to thank her for the marvelous time we'd had.

En algún momento de las vacaciones cambió el mantel de la mesa de la terraza por uno nuevo que acababa de hacer con esta preciosa tela de rayas típica del País Vasco.  Tan pronto como lo vi me enamoré, así que sin pensárselo me trajo un trozo de la tela del mantel que le había sobrado. Sí, lo sé, eso fue hace casi dos años y no había hecho nada hasta ahora. Bueno, admito que lo he ido dejando porque siempre había alguna otra cosa que hacer. Ahora por fin he hecho cuatro individuales que me encantan. El fin de semana pasado los estrené para merendar. ¿No os encantan sus colores? Los hice simples porque pensé que la tela era demasiado bonita para hacer algo muy elaborado. ¿Creéis que he hecho bien?  Como siempre, espero que os haya gustado el resultado.

At some point she changed the tablecloth of the table we had at the terrace of the apartment with a new one she had made with this really nice striped fabric typical from the basque country. As soon as I saw it I told her that I loved it so, without even thinking about it, she brought me a piece of fabric she had left after making the tablecloth. Yes, I know, that was almost two years ago and I haven't done anything 'till now. Well, I must admit that I kept leaving it aside because there was always something else to do. Now I have finally made a set of four place mats that I adore. I used them for the first time last weekend to have my afternoon tea. Don't you like its lovely colors? I have kept them simple because I thought the fabric was too beautiful to make anything too elaborated. Have I done right? As usual, I hope you have liked the result.

Me gustaría aprovechar la oportunidad para agradecer a Maddalen otra vez por las maravillosas vacaciones que pasamos en Anikuenea. Maddalen, seguro que te volvemos a visitar pronto.
