Vistiendo a mi libro

El verano se acerca, pronto estaré enterrando mis pies en la cálida arena mientras miro hacia al mar y disfruto de un buen libro. Mi rutina durante esos días es muy sencilla, dejo el stress en Madrid para relajarme todo lo que sea posible. Me levanto y desayuno en la terraza acompañada de Emily Brönte, Almudena Grandes, Dan Brown o a quien le haya tocado este verano. Cuando bajo a la playa no prescindo de su compañía y, después de buscar un sitio cerca del agua, poner la sombrilla y colocar los bártulos que nos acompañarán en nuestra jornada playera, saco mi bien querido libro para volver a sumergirme en grandes aventuras, amores, desamores y grandes dramas.

Summer is coming, quite soon I'll be burying my feet in the warm sand while I stare at the sea and enjoy a good book. My routine in those days is very simple, I leave stress in Madrid to get as relax as possible. I get up and have breakfast on the terrace while I enjoy the company of Emily Brontë, Almudena Grandes, Dan Brown or whoever has been chosen this summer. When I go down to the beach I don't leave out their company, so after looking for a site near the water, I put the beach umbrella and all the gear we need for a day at the beach, then I pull out my lovely book to immerse myself again in great adventures, loves stories, and great dramas.
 

Tras todo un curso en La Tertulia del Patch, este verano he decido vestir a mi libro. Hoy en día se hacen fundas para todo, la del móvil, la del iPad, ... Así que cuando vi que la gente también hacía fundas para los libros, decidí que tenía que hacerme una de cara al verano, que es cuando más leo.

After a whole school year in La Tertulia del Patch, this summer I've decided to dress my book. Nowadays you have cases for everything, one for the mobile, another for the iPad, and so on.. So when I saw people making cases for the books I decided to make one for this summer, the time when I read the most.

Cuando al salir de clase vi estas maravillosas telas de la colección Cabbages & Roses the Moda Fabrics decidí que tenía que comprarlas para hacer algo para este verano. La semana pasada le pregunté a Cristina, mi profe de patch, si le gustaban para la funda del libro y me dijo que le encantaban. En ese momento me dije que el fin de semana lo haría.

When after leaving the patchwork class and saw these awesome fabrics from the collection Cabbages & Roses from Moda Fabrics, I decided to buy them to do something for this summer. Last week I asked Cristina, my patchwork teacher, if she liked the fabrics to make a bookcase and she told me that she loved them. That's when I told myself that I would do it during the weekend.

Para acompañar la feminidad de las telas, para el marcapáginas, decidí usar un lazo de un tono similar al de las rosas y poner una perla al final del mismo.

In order to match the femininity of the fabrics, for the bookmark, I decided to use a lace in a similar shade to the roses and a pearl at the end of it.

Ahora a disfrutar de un ratito de relax antes del inicio de las vacaciones.

Now I'll enjoy a little moment of relax before I go on holidays.

Funda para el móvil

Cada vez que sacaba el móvil tenía que oír algún comentario del tipo “los protectores esos de plástico mira que son feos, deberías comprarte una funda y no poner un protector tan feo”. ¿Cómo que comprarme una funda? Tenía que pensar en cómo hacerme una.

Each time I take the mobile out of my purse I hear comments like "those plastic protectors look really ugly, you should buy a nice purse for it instead of using such an ugly protector". What about buying a purse? I should think of making one myself.

Hace ya un par de meses, con la funda en mente, compré unas telitas monísimas en La Tertulia del Patch. No obstante, las telitas cayeron en el olvido al fondo de una caja con muchas más telas. Hace poco más de una semana tocó la revisión de turno y cuando las vi me dije, “de hoy no pasa”. Saqué las telas y me puse a medir el móvil, diseñar como quería que quedara la funda y a hacer cuentas centímetros arriba, centímetros abajo.

A couple of months ago, with the case in mind, I bought some really nice fabrics in La Tertulia del Patch. However, these fabrics were forgotten at the bottom of a box with many more fabrics. Just over a week ago I decided to review the fabric’s box so when I saw them again I thought, "I’ll start today the latest". I took the fabric and started measuring the mobile, designing how I wanted the purse and calculating how many centimetres up, how many below, and so on I needed.

Después de mucho medir y pensar, decidí que quería combinar dos tipos de telas, hacerle un bolsillito para la tarjeta del trabajo y una aplicación con un “toquecillo” amoroso.

Aprovechando que tenía botones para forrar también le hice el botón a conjunto.

After much measuring and thinking, I decided I wanted to combine two types of fabric, make a little pocket for my id at work and an appliqué with a loving "touch".

I decided to cover a button with the same dotted fabric so it would look better.

Con la guata está protegido y la verdad es que si comparamos el antes y el después está claro con que opción me quedo.

With the wadding is protected and truth is that if I compare what I had with what I have now it's quite clear which option I choose.

Since I was taking pictures I took the opportunity to photograph these marvellous roses from my mum's garden.

Espero que os gusten tanto como a mí. Siempre he sido más de calas y tulipanes pero no me he podido resistir a su belleza.

Bolsas para bastidor y labores

Esta semana me he puesto las pilas. Sí, sí, no hago más que empezar proyectos que se van acumulando. Supongo que es muy fácil caer, ves algo que te gusta y lo empiezas pero antes de acabarlo ves otra cosa que también te gusta y en vez de dejarla para la lista de cosas a hacer la empiezas y sigues acumulando. Mi nuevo propósito es intentar no tener más de dos, o como mucho tres, labores a la vez. Siempre me gusta tener una labor que pueda llevar fácilmente conmigo si voy de viaje pero a partir de ahora intentaremos que solo sea una en vez de dos, tres o más (no me lo creo ni yo, a ver cuanto tardo, en cuanto mi profe Cristina aparezca con algo nuevo allá que me lanzo).

This week I got my act together. Oh yes, I start too many projects that I'm beginning to accumulate. I guess it's very easy, you see something you like so you start it but before it's finished you see something new that you like and instead of leaving it for the "to do" list you start it so you keep on accumulating more and more things to do. My new purpose is to try not to work on more than two, or three the most, projects at the same time. I always like to have a project I can easily take with me whenever I travel but from now on I'll try to have only one instead of two, three or more (I can't believe what I'm saying, let's see how long it takes till I forget about it, I guess as soon as my teacher Cristina appears with something new).

Por fin he terminado la bolsa para guardar el bastidor para acolchar. La verdad es que la tenía casi terminada pero estaba buscando una cinta marrón que había comprado hace unos meses y que finalmente no he podido encontrar. He comprado otra en marrón con lunares que también le queda fenomenal.

Además esta semana he hecho un bolso nuevo para la labor. El otro que tengo es demasiado grande y por lo tanto no resulta demasiado cómodo para viajar. Este me lo puedo llevar fácilmente y además ha quedado tan mono que probablemente también lo use como bolso.

Finally I have finished the bag to keep the quilting frame. Truth is that it was almost finished but I was looking for a brown lace I bought a few months ago but finally I couldn't find it.  Instead I bought another brown lace with white dots that also looks great.

I have also made a new bag to take my patchwork. The other one I have is too big so it's not very confy for traveling. The new one I can easily take it with me anywhere and it looks so nice I'll probably use it as a handbag.

Para la bolsa del bastidor de acolchado use la técnica de "vuelo de la oca". Era la primera vez que usaba esta técnica y me gustó mucho. No es díficil y además queda muy bien.

For the bag to keep the quilting frame I used the "flying geese" technique. It was the first time I used this technique and I really enjoyed it. It's not dificult and it looks very nice.

He aprovechado para usar este botón tan chulo que me compré hace tiempo.

I took the opportunity to use this nice button I bought a while ago.

Y aquí está mi nueva bolsa para la labor. Todavía que sobraban tiras del jelly-roll que compré para hacer mi otra bolsa de labor en forma de caramelo y las he aprovechado combinándolas con esta maravillosa tela azul con lunares.

So here is my new patchwork bag. I still had some strips of fabril from the jelly-roll I bouth to make my other patchwork candy-shaped bag so I used them together with this gorgeous blue dotted fabric.

Le he puesto un parde bolsillos interiores uno para cosas en general y otro para el móvil.

I have put two interior pockets one for general purpose and another one for the mobile.

Hola a tod@s!! Esta semana no he terminado ningún trabajo pero voy a compartir con vosotr@s el proyecto en el que estoy trabajando. Estoy haciendo la funda de la máquina de coser de Veronique Requena con algún que otro añadido mío.

Esta es la trasera de la casa. Como no sale en el libro me la he inventado yo. Espero que os guste tanto como a mí.

Esta semana espero tener todo listo para empezar con el acolchado y pronto poder mostraros la funda finalizada.

This week I hope to start with the quilting so I can show you the finished cover soon.

La verdad es que voy un poco lenta pero es que tengo demasiados proyectos entre manos y no salgo de uno para entrar en otro.

Truth is that I'm quite slow but I must say that I have too many projects I'm working on right now and as soon as I finish one I find something new to start with.

Bolso estilo Chanel y Monedero Romántico

Hola a todas, aquí estoy de nuevo después de 3 semanas.  Siento haberos tenido abandonadas tanto tiempo pero primero me fui unos días de vacaciones y luego he estado demasiado vaga para hacer o escribir nada.

Hello everybody, here I am again after 3 weeks. I’m sorry to have left you for so long but I’ve been on holidays and after that I’ve been too lazy to do or write anything.

Esta semana os enseño un bolso de estilo Chanel  que empecé ya hace tiempo pero que no he terminado en su totalidad hasta este fin de semana.  La verdad es que me costó bastante trabajar el tipo de tela que utilicé para el bolso y eso hizo que le cogiera un poco de manía. Ahora que lo he acabado, y que ya se me han olvidado las cuatro agujas que rompí con la máquina de coser, estoy muy contenta.

This week I would like to show you a Chanel-style bag that I started quite long ago but I didn’t finish it till this weekend. Truth is that it was quite difficult for me to work with this kind of fabric so I got to hate it. Now that is finished, and I have forgotten about the four needles I broke with the sewing machine, I’m very happy with my new bag.

¿Qué os parece? Yo estoy encantada y estoy deseando estrenarlo.

Do you like it? I’m delighted and soon I’ll wear it for the first time (looking forward to it!!).

También quiero aprovechar y enseñaros un monedero de estilo romántico que me he hecho de cara al buen tiempo. Sí, sí, ya estaba aburrida del que tengo y me apetecía algo más primaveral.

I would also like to show you a romantic-style purse that I’ve done now that good weather is coming. Oh yes!! I was so bored of my old purse that I felt like doing something more like spring-time.

Primero de todo,  comentaros que desde hoy "internacionalizo" el blog. Oh sí!! En honor a mis seguidor@s de fuera de España voy a empezar a escribir en inglés.

Hoy quiero compartir con vosotr@s mi nueva pasión, el cartonaje. Aunque he de decir que todavía está muy lejos de superar mi amor por el patchwork. En cuanto vi la caja de té de mi profe Aurora me dije, "quiero una", vamos dentro de lo normal. Y aquí está el resultado.

First of all, let me tell you that from today I "internationalize" the blog. Oh yes!! In honour to all my followers outside Spain I'll start writing in english.

Today I want to share with you my new passion, craft boxes (I don't know if this technique has a special name in english). Although I must say it's still far from overcoming my love for patchwork. As soon as I saw the tea-box from my teacher Aurora I told myself, "I want one", something quite normal coming from me. So here is the result.

Estoy encantada con el resultado. Queda monísima!!! Ahora estoy haciendo un servilletero a conjunto. En cuanto lo tenga os lo enseño.

I'm delighted with the result. Looks gorgeours!!! Now I'm making a matching napking basket. As soon as I finish it I'll show it to you.

Me apetecía bordar algo relacionado con el té y, después de mucho pensar, aquí podéis ver más en detalle el bordado que le he puesto.  ¿Qué os parece?

I felt like doing some embroidery related with tea so, after quite a lot of thinking you can see the detail of the embroidery I used. What do you think?

Un bolso Shabby Home

Hace unos meses, brujuleando por el blog Shabby Home de Francesca Ogliari,  vi un bolso que me encantó y, una vez más como buena miembro del club "culo veo culo quiero", decidí que tenía que hacerme uno.

Antes de Semana Santa le dije a Silvia, ya que ella tenía uno, que me iba a ir a una de sus clases, en La Tertulia del Patch, para que me ayudase a hacerlo.

El pasado miércoles por la mañana, aprovechando que estaba de vacaciones (que bien se vive!!) fui a su clase y con su ayuda y un poco de trabajo en la mañana del sábado, tachan, tachan.... aquí está el resultado.

No sé si será mi amor por los bolsos pero me encanta y ya estoy deseando estrenarlo. Ya veremos cuánto aguanto.

Hablando con Silvia, también me comentó que ella se había comprado un organizador para bolsos muy útil, que por un lado te permitía llevar cierto orden en el bolso y que además le daba cuerpo a los bolsos que resultaban muy caídos.

El sábado por la tarde aproveché y fui a comprarme uno. Como podéis ver cabe de todo y además queda todo muy organizado.

Y dentro del bolso ya puedo encontrar todo sin tener que vaciarlo.

Espero que os haya gustado mi último trabajo. La verdad es que tengo muchísimas cosas pendientes pero siempre surge algo, como este bolso, que me hace dejarlas para otro día.
