Parece que no tengo suficiente con el patchwork... así que me he decidido a hacer mi propio jabón. Dios mío!!! Necesito más tiempo libre...
Hace unos meses, mi hermano me enseñó un libro que se había comprado con recetas para hacer jabones de varios tipos. Me encanta la lavanda, así que pensé que sería el primero. Después de reunir todos los ingredientes y utensilios, lo hice el primer finde de octubre.

It seems I don't have enough with my patchwork... So I've decided to make my own soap. Gosh!!! I need more free time...
I few months ago, my brother showed me a book he had bought with recipes on how to make different type of soaps. I love lavender, so I thought this would be the first one. So after gathering all the ingredients and things I need it to make, the first weekend of October I did it.
Ahora que lo he cortado, se está secando poquito a poco en una de mis terrazas cerradas, y me encanta ir, huele fenomenal. Es como estar en un campo de lavanda. Por si alguna vez os apetece disfrutar de ese olor, ahí va la receta:
Ingredientes
- 213 g de infusión de lavanda (213g de agua hirviendo y 2 cucharadas de lavanda). Dejar reposar durante 5 minutos.
- 85 g de sosa caustica
- 683 g de aceite de oliva virgen
- 1 cucharada de lavanda fresca o seca
- 10 g de aceite de esencia de lavanda

Now I've cut it, it's slowly drying in one of my closed balconies, and I love to go there, since it smells really nice. It's like being in a lavender field. If you ever want to enjoy the smell as well here goes the recipe:
Ingredients
- 213 g lavander infusion (213g of boiling water and 2 tbs of lavender). Leave it to rest for 5 minutes.
- 85 g of caustic soda
- 683 g of virgin olive oil
- 1 tbs of fresh or dried lavender
- 10 g of essential lavender oil
Utensilios
- Una pesa digital
- Una jarra o bol de plástico (por lo menos de 500 ml)
- Una cuchara de servir de acero inoxidable
- Una cazuela de acero inoxidable
- Un termómetro de laboratorio que vaya de 0 a 100 ºC (sin ningún tipo de soporte, debe ser solo de vidrio. Yo lo compré en la farmacia)
- Papel de hornear
- Guantes de goma (yo usé de los de fregar)
- Gafas de plástico (yo no usé nada pero tendréis que tener cuidado con que la sosa no toque vuestra piel y ojos, porque hasta que el jabón no está hecho puede dejar quemaduras muy feas)

Utensils
- A digital scale
- A plastic measuring jug or plastic bowl (at least one of 500 ml)
- An stainless steel serving spoon
- A stainless steel pan
- A plastic or silicon container
- A laboratory thermometer that goes from 0 to 100 ºC (without any type of support, it must be all made of glass. I bought it at the chemist)
- Baking paper
- Plastic gloves (I used the hand washing ones)
- Plastic glasses ( I didn't used any but you should be careful that the caustic soda doesn't touch your eyes or skin, because until the soap is not made it can make very nasty burns)
Instrucciones
Preparar la infusión de lavanda y añadir la sosa con cuidado mientras se remueve con la cuchara de servir. La mezcla hervirá y subirá como una espumilla pero no tengáis miedo, remover hasta que se que vuelva a bajar y se quede así. Dejarlo hasta que llegue a una temperatura de entre 49 y 690 ºC (no dejéis el termómetro dentro porque puede superar lo 100 ºC y estropearse.
Mientras la temperatura de la mezcla anterior baja, poner el aceite en la cazuela y calentar hasta que alcance una temperatura de entre 49 y 60 ºC. Apartarlo del fuego.
Una vez que ambos, aceite y mezcla de sosa, alcancen la temperatura deseada, añadir la mezcla de sosa al aceite poquito a poco mientras se remueve con la cuchara; ahora es el momento de añadir la esencia de lavanda mientras se continua removiendo. Después de unos 5 minutos déjarlo descansar, remover un par de minutos cada 15. Repetir esta operación durante hora u hora y media o hasta que la mezcla tenga la consistencia de una mayonesa ligera. Después echar en el recipiente de plástico y decorar por encima con la lavanda fresca o seca. Dejar secar en un lugar seco y aireado durante unos 5 días, hasta que se ponga duro. Después desmoldar y cortar el jabón. Ponerlo en el papel de hornear y volver a dejarlo en un lugar seco y aireado hasta que se seque por completo.
Nota: Los materiales de los utensilios deberán ser los indicados; otros materiales puede que no den el resultado esperado o que incluso os den algún tipo de problema.
Importante: Hacer el jabón fuera de casa o debajo del extractor de la cocina. Sobre todo la parte de la mezcla de la sosa con la infusión de lavanda.

Instructions
Prepare the lavender infusion and add the caustic soda carefully while moving with the serving spoon. The mixture will boil but don't be afraid, move with the spoon until it comes to rest. Leave it apart until the temperature is between 49 and 60 ºC (don't leave the thermometer inside because it might go over 100 ºC and you will damage it).
While the temperature of the previous mixture goes down, put the oil into the pan and heat it until it reaches a temperature between 49 and 60 ºC. Then take off the heat.
Once both the caustic soda mixture and the oil reach the desired temperatures, add the caustic soda mixture to the olive oil while blending it helped by the serving spoon, now it's the moment to add the lavender essential oil while you continue removing the mixture. After about 5 minutes leave it rest, remove for a couple of min every 15 minutes. Repeat the operation for about one to one and half hours or until the mixtures is has the consistency of light mayonnaise. Then pour it in the plastic container and put on top the fresh or dried lavender for decoration. Leave it in a dried and airy place until it dries for about 5 days. After that you can take it out and cut it. Put it on baking paper and leave it at the same dried and aired placed until it's completely dried.
Note: Please note that the materials of the utensils are very important; other materials might not give the wanted result of might even cause some problems.
Important: When you make the soap, do it outside the house or under the extractor of you kitchen. Mainly when you mix the lavender infusion with the caustic soda.
