El individual de Cristina

Todavía recuerdo el día que Cristina, una amiga del trabajo, me preguntó si le enseñaba a hacer patchwork. Me puse muy contenta al descubrir que le gustaban mis proyectos y que me quería como profesora, era mi primera alumna. Como ella sabía pintar broches de muñecas de madera y yo siempre quise aprender a pintarlos, le dije que podíamos compartir conocimientos y enseñarnos la una a la otra, así que eso hemos estado haciendo desde hace unos meses.

I still remember the day Cristina, a friend from work, asked me to teach her how to make patchwork. I was really happy when I found out she liked my projects and she wanted me as a teacher, she was my first pupil. Since she knew how to paint wooden brooch dolls and I had always wanted to learn, I told her that we could share our knowledge and teach each other, so that's what we've been doing for a few months now.

Hoy me gustaría compartir con tod@s vosotr@s el primer proyecto que ha terminado. Un mantel individual de lo más adorable, que ha hecho todito a mano y que además está muy bien hecho. ¿No os encanta? A mí sí.

Today I've like to share with all of you her first finished project. A really nice and lovely place mat which she has done all by hand and which is very well done. Don't you love it? I do.

Bolso Puzzle Estrellas de... Francesca Ogliari

¡Hace tanto de mi última entrada! Admito que las altas temperaturas me afectan de manera horrible y que no me apetece hacer nada más que tumbarme en el sofá y ver la tele (supongo que es lo que tiene ser del norte). Las temperaturas han bajado por fin, así que ya puedo empezar con la rutina. Aunque no me haya apetecido darle a la aguja ni al teclado, os he echado de menos a vosotr@s y a vuestros bonitos comentarios, por lo que estoy realmente feliz de estar de vuelta.

It's been a long time since my last post!!! I must admit that high temperatures are awful for me, since I don't feel like doing anything but lying on the sofa and watching TV (I guess it's part of being from the north). Temperatures have, finally, come down so I can start my routine. Even though I didn't feel like making any patchwork or computer work, I've missed you and your kind comments a lot, so I'm really happy to be back.

Hoy comparto con vosotr@s el bolso que hice con Francesca Ogliari, de Shabby Home, en su última visita a La Tertulia del Patch en Madrid. Es un diseño de su último libro, De Vuelta a Casa. Fui al curso con mis amigas Mª José y Rocío y, como siempre, nos los pasamos fenomenal con Francesca. Es muy dulce y una profesora increíblemente paciente, si todavía no has hecho un curso con ella te recomiendo que lo apuntes en tu lista de deseos, ¡merece la pena! Aquell@s que llevéis ya un tiempo siguiendo mi blog sabréis que yo soy superfan del trabajo de Francesca, supongo que su estilo y el mío son similares y que eso ayuda, así que intento ir a todos los que puedo.

Today I'm sharing with you the handbag a made with Francesca Ogliari, from Shabby Home, on her last visit to La Tertulia del Patch in Madrid. It's a design from her last book, Back Home. I went to the course with my friends Mª José and Rocío and, as usual, we had a great time with Francesca. She's really sweet and an incredibly patient teacher, if you haven't taken a course with her yet I recommend you to write it down in your wish list, it's really worth it!! Those of you who have been following my blog for a while will know I'm a great fan of Francesca's work, I guess her style it's quite similar to mine so that makes things easier, so I try to take as many of her courses as I can.

Me costó un poco pero terminé el bolso y me encanta el resultado final, aunque no estoy segura de si volvería a hacer otro (quizá cuando se me olvide lo duro que fue en algunos momentos). ¿Os gusta? Por favor, decidme que sí que me costó mucho coser tanta capa, en algún momento pensé que me cargaba la máquina de coser, jejeje.

It took my a while to finish the handbag but I love the final result, though I'm not sure I would repeat it (may be when I forget how hard it got at some points). Do you like it? Please, tell me you do because it was quite hard to sew so many layers together, at some points I thought I would destroy my sewing machine, LOL.

Quilt Me Club 2014 - Casi, casi terminado...

¡Casi terminado! Ha llevado mucho trabajo pero me ha alegrado formar parte del Quilt Me Club 2014 con Nataliejo de L'Atelier Perdu. Es una pena que no encontrara su blog antes porque he perdido la oportunidad de unirme a Quilt Clubs anteriores donde realizó trabajos de patch preciosos. Si todavía no la conocéis a ella y sus maravillosos Quilt y Stitch Clubs, os animo a que le hagáis una visita a su blog haciendo clic en el nombre del mismo.

Almost finished!!! It had a lot of work but I have loved being part of the 2014 Quilt Me Club with Nataliejo from L'Atelier Perdu. It's a pity I didn't find her blog sooner since I've missed the opportunity to join previous Quilt Clubs where she has done beautiful patchwork jobs. Do you like it? I must admit I love it, even though I don't use it as much as I would like to. Unfortunately, lately I haven't had a lot of time to sew and this awful high summer temperatures in Madrid don't help (I'm exhausted most of the time). Hopefully this will change in September, so I will be able to show it off a lot. Will you join Nataliejo and me in her next Quilt Club? I'm willing for her to publish it. Hope to see you around.

Estas estrellas son muy fáciles de hacer, lo prometo, y quedan fenomenal aplicadas en una colcha, un cojín y muchas otras cosas. As I promised sometime around March, more or less, today I would like to share with all of you the Crazy Stars Tutorial (sorry I have only written it in spanish, if any of you want it please let me know so I can translate it into english). P.D. Para l@s que no lo sepais, no os había abandonado, me caí a primeros de abril y tuve una luxación de codo. Los médicos me lo volvieron a coloca en sitio y el fisio me lo está poniendo en marcha de nuevo, pero no he podido trabajar ni coser hasta esta semana.

P.S. For those of you who didn't know, I haven't left the blog, I felt down at the beginning of April and my elbow moved from its place. The doctors got it back on the right place and the physiocerapist is helping me to get it fully functional again, so I haven't been able to work and sew until this week.

La bolsa del pan de Nacho

Mi amigo Nacho empezó a hacer su propio pan hace unos meses. Debo decir que lo probé y me encantó, es súpersabroso. Así que cuando me pidió que le hiciera una bolsa para el pan, ,no pude negarme. Tenía algo de tela que le había quedado de los cojines de las sillas y de las cortinas de la cocina, así que la trajo. Debo admitir que esto facilitó mi trabajo, teniendo solo que elegir la tela para las letras y la barra de pan que apliqué a la bolsa.

My friend, Nacho, started baking his own bread a few months ago. I must say I have tried it and I really like it, it's just so tasty. So when he asked me if I would make a bread bag for him I just couldn't say no. He had some fabric left from the chair pillows and the curtains of his kitchen so he brought it. I must admit that made my job even easier, I only had to choose the fabric for the letters and the baguette I applied to the bag.

Espero que os guste el resultado final. Tanto su mujer como él se pusieron muy contentos cuando vieron la bolsa del pan y los dos agarradores para el horno que les hice como extra con la tela que sobraba. Espero que esto ayude a que siga haciendo su propio pan, y que yo pueda probarlo de vez en cuando. Buen trato, ¿no?

Hope you all like the final result. Both his wife and he were very happy with their new bread bag and with a couple of pot holders I made as an extra with the remaining fabric. Hope this helps him keeping on baking his own bread so I can taste it every now and then. Good business, isn't it?

Cuestión de música

Compré esta tela de música pensando en mi hijo, quien toca el piano. Pensé que podía hacerle algo pero nunca se me ocurrió el qué. Así que cuando mi amiga Miriam me pidió, por segunda vez (ya le había hecho otra para su hijo), que le hiciera una funda para la flauta de su sobrino, no pude negarme. Tenía que ser lo más práctica posible, así que aunque le puse un botón de decoración, se cierra con velcro. Cuanto más fácil, mejor!! Miriam se la regaló a su sobrino, el martes pasado, por su cumpleaños y, por lo que he oído, le gustó mucho. Bueno!! Se me olvidó comentar que fue él quien dijo que quería una, así que por eso estaba encantado.

I bought this music fabric thinking about my son, who plays the piano. I thought I could make something for him but never found what that something could be. So when my friend Miriam asked me, for the second time (I had previously made one for her son), to make her a bag for her nephew's flute, I couldn't say no. It had to be practical so even if I have used a button as a decoration, it closes with velcro. The easier the better!!! Miriam gave it to her nephew as a birthday present last Tuesday, for what I heard he really liked it. Well!! I forgot to say that he was the one who wanted one, so that's why he was so pleased about it.

No queda tela, así que parece que después de todo mi hijo no tendrá nada hecho con esta tela. Pero eso da igual porque tengo una gran sorpresa para su cumpleaños, le voy a hacer una colcha llena de barcos para su cama. Él ha sido quien ha elegido el diseño y las telas así que espero que le guste el resultado final. ¿Y por qué he dicho sorpresa si lo ha elegido él todo? Porque lo eligió y compramos las telas hace un año, más o menos. ¿Os suena familiar? JAJAJA, seguro que os ha pasado más de una vez.

No fabric is left, so I guess my son won't be getting anything after all. Anyway, I have a big surprise for his birthday, I will be making a quilt for his bed full of boats. He has chosen the design and the fabrics so I hope he likes the final result. So why I have said that it's a surprise if he has chosen everything? Because he chose the design and we bought the fabrics about a year ago, more or less. Sound familiar to you? LOL, I'm sure it has happened to you many times.

Shopping Bag de Country Kitty

Como os había prometido hace un par de semanas... Me gustaría compartir con tod@s vosotr@s las Shopping Bags que mi amiga MJ y yo hemos hecho usando el tutorial gratuito que Federica, del blog Country Kitty, ha compartido con todas nosotras. Debo admitir que soy una gran admiradora de su trabajo así que no pude resistirme cuando vi el tutorial. Hasta tuve la tentación de hacer una visita a una de las tiendas de Susie Watson, pero supongo que tendrá que esperar hasta mi próxima visita al Reino Unido.

As I'd promised a couple of weeks ago... I would like to share with all of you the Shopping Bags my friend MJ and I have done using the free tutorial Federica, from the blog Country Kitty, has shared with all of us. I must admit I'm a great admirer of her work so I couldn't resist myself when I saw the tutorial. I even had a temptation to visit a Susie Watson shop, but I guess that will have to wait until my next visit to the UK.

Como podéis ver en las fotos, queda precioso uses las telas que uses. MJ y yo los hemos hecho distintos pero hemos querido mantener el tono rosa del bolso original de Federica. MJ ha usado un lino color crema y unas telas Tilda en tonos rosa (la del corazón de su última colección). En mi caso, he usado algunas telas de la última colección de Tilda (para los corazones y los bolsillos) mezcladas con algunas de una colección antigua, y para el exterior una telas de rayas que estaba reservando desde hace tiempo para una ocasión especial.

As you can all see in the pictures, it looks really nice no matter what fabrics you use. MJ and I have made them using different fabrics but keeping the pink shade from Federica's original one. MJ has used a creamy linen fabric and some Tilda pink tone fabrics (the heart one is from the latest collection). In my case I used some fabrics from Tilda's latest collection (for the hearts and pockets) mixed with some from one of the old collections and for the outside I used a striped fabric I had been keeping, quite long, for a special occasion.
