Quilt Me Club 2014 - Casi, casi terminado...

¡Casi terminado! Ha llevado mucho trabajo pero me ha alegrado formar parte del Quilt Me Club 2014 con Nataliejo de L'Atelier Perdu. Es una pena que no encontrara su blog antes porque he perdido la oportunidad de unirme a Quilt Clubs anteriores donde realizó trabajos de patch preciosos. Si todavía no la conocéis a ella y sus maravillosos Quilt y Stitch Clubs, os animo a que le hagáis una visita a su blog haciendo clic en el nombre del mismo.

Almost finished!!! It had a lot of work but I have loved being part of the 2014 Quilt Me Club with Nataliejo from L'Atelier Perdu. It's a pity I didn't find her blog sooner since I've missed the opportunity to join previous Quilt Clubs where she has done beautiful patchwork jobs. ¿Os gusta? Admito que me encanta, aunque no la uso tanto como me gustaría. Por desgracia, últimamente no he tenido mucho tiempo para coser y estas temperaturas tan altas en Madrid no ayudan (estoy agotada casi todo el tiempo). Do you like it? I must admit I love it, even though I don't use it as much as I would like to. Unfortunately, lately I haven't had a lot of time to sew and this awful high summer temperatures in Madrid don't help (I'm exhausted most of the time). Hopefully this will change in September, so I will be able to show it off a lot. Will you join Nataliejo and me in her next Quilt Club? I'm willing for her to publish it. Hope to see you around.

La casita de La Ardilla Ana

Los días pasan y parece que no logro sacar el tiempo suficiente para terminar ninguno de los proyectos que tengo en marcha, así que he decidido enseñaros esta casita que hice hace un año y que todavía no os había mostrado. ¿Que para qué sirve? Para lo que se os ocurra, yo la uso para guardar hilos de bordar.

Days go by and it seems I don't get enough time to finish any of my actual projects, so I've decided to show you this little house I made about a year ago which I hadn't shown you yet. What is it for? For anything that comes to your mind, I use it to keep embroidery thread.

Había visto casas parecidas en algunos blogs y, como me gustaban mucho pero no sabía dónde conseguir el patrón, decidí hacer mi propio diseño. ¿Qué os parece? ¡Espero que os guste tanto como a mí!

I'd seen similar houses in some blogs and since I really liked them, but didn't know where to get the pattern, I decided to make my own design. What do you think about it? Hope you all like it as much as I do!

Bolsita para las agujas de punto

Hace ya bastante tiempo que hice este guardagujas de punto. El original era parecido pero hice algún cambio para usarlo para las agujas de punto en vez de para las de coser. Debo decir que no me acuerdo muy bien del original, me parece que la diferencia estaba en el bolsillo para guardar las agujas, creo que tenía un libro guardagujas en vez de este bolsillo. Así que si no hacéis punto podéis cambiarlo y usar la bolsita para vuestros accesorios de costura. ¡Espero que os guste la idea!

It's been quite a long time since I made this knitting needles case. The original case was similar but I made some changes in order to use it for my knitting needles instead of my sewing ones. I must say I don't remember very well the original one, maybe the difference was in the needles pocket, I think it had a needle book instead of the pocket. So if you don't knit you can change that and use it for sewing accessories. Hope you like the idea!!!

Creo que el diseño podría ser fácilmente adaptado dependiendo de vuestras necesidades. ¿Os lo podéis imaginar dejando el exterior, las asas y las cintas para cerrarlo, y con dos bolsillos interior para sujetar un libro? ¿No creéis que quedaría monísimo como una funda para libros? ¿Y si dejarais solo los bolsillos grandes, cerrarais los laterales y la usarais como una bolsita de mano? Una de mis tías me lo sugirió porque pensó que era demasiado bonito para no lucirlo más. De una u otra manera, espero que os haya gustado el diseño. Ya me contaréis cuál es vuestra opción favorita.

I think this design could be nicely adapted depending on what you need. Can you imagine leaving the outside shape with the handles and lace to close it, and making two inside pockets in order to hold a book?? Don't you think it would make a nice book case?? What about if you just leave the big pockets, close it on the sides and use it as a nice purse?? One of my aunties suggested me this option because she thought it was too cute not to show it off more. One way or the other, I hope you all like the design. Hope you all tell be which is your favorite option.

De curso con... Lynette Anderson

Hace un par de semanas, tuve el gran placer de conocer a  Lynette Anderson.  Asistí a un curso que dio en La Tertulia del Patch, donde nos enseñó a hacer un estuche de costura precioso. Disfruté mucho con ella, fue muy dulce y amigable con todas nosotras, y explicó todo muy bien.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the great pleasure to meet Lynette Anderson.  I went to a course she gave at La Tertulia del Patch, where she showed us how to make a really nice sewing accessory case.
I really enjoyed the time with her, she was very sweet and friendly with all of us, and explained everything very well.

En el curso tuve la oportunidad de conocer a gente supermaja y me lo pasé genial con el grupo con el que compartí mesa: MJ mi queridísima amiga, Mónica de Mimosa Patchwork y a quien ya considero una buena amiga, Nina de Ninart y Marisa de Cañamazo, una preciosa tienda de patchwork en el centro de Madrid. Compartimos este proyecto y charlamos un montón mientras nos lo pasábamos fenomenal. No me importaría volver a coser juntas, y creo que es algo que puede que suceda pronto, por lo menos con MJ y con Nina.

I had the chance to meet really nice people at the course, and had a lot of fun with the group I shared my table with: MJ my dearest friend, Mónica from Mimosa Patchwork and who I already consider a good friend, Nina from Ninart and Marisa from Cañamazo, a lovely patchwork shop in Madrid's city centre. We shared this project and chit-chat a lot while having a great time. I wouldn't mind sewing together again, and think that's something that might be happening soon, at least with MJ and Nina.

Durante el curso hicimos mucho appliquick, así que tuve la oportunidad de mejorar mi técnica con los trucos que nos explicó Lynette, algo de bordado y muchísimos hexágonos, tanto para el bolsillo como para la flor que sujeta el pájaro. No tuvimos la oportunidad de acabarlo pero Lynette nos explicó muy bien como terminarlo en casa, así que aquí está el resultado final. ¿No os encanta? Bueno, a mí sí, y seguro que además lo uso un montón. Me encanta la aplicación con appliquick así que creo que va a empezar a viajar conmigo bastante.

During the course we made a lot of appliquick, so I had the chance to improve my technique with the tricks Lynette explained us, some embroidery and plenty of hexagons, both for the pocket and the kind of flower the bird is holding. We didn't have time to finish it, but Lynette explained us very week how to do it at home, so here you can see the final result. Don't you love it? Well, I think it's really nice, and I'm sure I'll use it a lot. I love doing appliqué using appliquick so it will probably travel with me a lot.

Lo peor fue elegir las telas: quería usar algunas de las de Lynette, pero como todos sabréis a estas alturas, me encantan los lunares así que los usé para el interior para añadir algo de mi cosecha. Espero que os guste el resultado final.

The worst bit was choosing the fabrics: I wanted to use Lynette one's but, as you all probably now by now, I love polka dots so I used them for the interior in order to put some of my style. Hope you all like the final result.

Costurero "La Cousette d'Emma"

Hace unos meses hice un curso con Francesca Ogliari para hacer un bolso que os enseñaré pronto. Mi profe de patch, Keka, también vino al curso y se sentó a mi lado. Todavía recuerdo que cuando puso su costurero sobre la mesa, pensé que era muy bonito y práctico, dado que todo se podía ver a primera vista y las cosas se encontraban bien sin tener que rebuscar. Así que quedó en la lista de proyectos pendientes.

A few months ago I took a course with Francesca Ogliari, to make I nice handbag I will show you soon. My patchwork teacher, Keka, also came to the course and sat by my side. I still remember when she put on the table her sewing basket, I thought it was very nice and practical, since all could be seen at first sight without the trouble of having to take some things out to find the others. So I wrote it in my to-do list.

Como podéis ver no mentía, tiene mucho espacio y me encanta. Para esta labor elegí unas telas de Tilda y alguna otra tela romántica que tenía, pero mis amigas-patch (MJ, Nuria y Charo) usaron telas de estilos diferentes y los suyos también quedaron maravillosos.

As you can all see I wasn't lying, it has a lot of space and I love it. I chose some Tilda and other romantic fabrics to do it, but my patch-friends (MJ, Nuria y Charo) did it using different style of fabrics and theirs look very gorgeous as well.

Este finde nos hemos juntado a terminarlos juntas (a excepción de MJ que estaba de viaje) porque no nos había dado tiempo a terminarlos en clase. A continuación podéis lo ideales que quedan con independencia del estilo que se use.

This weekend we've gathered together in order to finish them (all but MJ who was away) because we weren't able to finish them in class. Following you can see by yourself how nice they all look regardless of the style being used.

After finishing the sewing basket, we have decided that we need to design and do all the matching accessories. Hopefully I'll be able to show them to you quite soon.

Caponata y sus amigas

¿Qué pasa cuando no puedes evitarlo? Lo ves, te gusta y te dices que esta vez vas a tener paciencia y no vas a caer en la tentación, o eso es lo que piensas. Es muy fácil  hasta que una de tus compis de clase dice las palabras mágicas: “Voy a elegir las telas y me hago uno”. En ese momento sabes que es inevitable y piensas: “¿Por qué no?”... ¡Ya has vuelto a caer!

What happens when you can’t avoid it? You see it, you like it so you tell yourself that this time you’re going to be patient so you won’t fall into temptation, or that’s what you think. It’s very easy till one of you friends at class says the magic words: “I’m gonna choose the fabric to make one”. That’s the moments when you find out that you can’t avoid it so you think: “Why not?”… Once again you’ve been tempted!

Pues eso es lo que me pasó con la gallina Caponata. La había visto en Internet hace tiempo y me había encantado, sabía que con el tiempo me haría una. Cuál mi sorpresa cuando después de un puente aparece mi profe, Cristina de La Tertulia del Patch, con la gallina hecha. Le había quedado preciosa, con un look country francés fabuloso. En cuanto mi amiga MJ dijo que se la iba a hacer, no pude evitarlo y me apunté. No fui la única; Maribel, otra compi y amiga, también decidió hacerse una. Al día siguiente ya me había impreso el patrón y elegido las telas (más o menos).

So that’s what happened with the hen Caponata (a hen from the spanish Sesame Street). I saw it in the internet sometime ago and I really liked it, I knew that at some point I would make one. I was surprised when after a bank holiday my teacher, Cristina at La Tertulia del Patch, showed up with her own finished hen. It looked really nice, with French country fabulous look. As soon as my friend MJ said that she was going to make one, I couldn’t help it, I was going to make another one for me. I wasn't the only one; Maribel, a new friend from patchwork, also decided to make one for herself. First thing I did the day after was to print the pattern and choose the fabric.

Algo que me ha gustado mucho de este proyecto ha sido la oportunidad de bordar aunque solo fuese un poco. El año pasado hice el curso de iniciación al bordado pero la verdad es que no he hecho gran cosa. Ahora que se acerca el buen tiempo me apetece hacer algo menos pesado que el patchwork, creo que será un buen momento para comenzar un proyecto con algo más de bordado.

Something I really enjoyed about this project was the chance to do some embroidery. Last year I took the introductory course to embroidery but the truth is that I haven’t done much. Now the good weather is coming I really feel like doing something lighter than patchwork, so I think it will be a good time to start a project with more embroidery.
